Update on 9/19/2024 - Here is a nice article on the streak that started 50 years ago today: https://nj.milesplit.com/artic...
Cool story bro!
$$$$$$ wow $$$$$$$
who cares? What is their best finish at NXN?
They care - and they won in 2011
Dude walked into that one
Congrats CBA
Super impressive and cool.
Somone remind me when the streak started?
Wouldn't someone in NJ want to try to beat it? They don't win the state meet every year do they?
The streak started on September 19, 1974.
Seriously - who cares. The best teams and the best athletes skip dual meets in all seasons.
Can anyone confirm that last team to beat CBA in an XC dual meet? I think it may have been Raritan?
Raritan. Mel Ullmeyer won the race.
Good job, colts. I liked their navy blue uniforms better. Based school,
here you go ROJO
That is shocking. Can you imagine? Hats off to them.
But what kind of a weird league are they in? No disrespect to them, but that is odd, right? Is it one of those school districts where kids can pick their HS and all the runners go here because they have a great program?
My town has two high schools and each school has 3-4 solid runners each year and scramble to find a good 4th-5th man... If all 6-8 of those really good kids were in the same school, we'd win state all the time. But as it is, you sort of have to stick to your home school.
I assume this is not the case in NJ?

And it's a shame that more teams don't run duals, tris, or quads. It is something from the past, when there were not as many invitationals, that many teams could benefit from. Smaller meets teach kids how to actually race. Now all that teams are concerned with is time.
CBA is not a public school, so they are able to recruit and pull from all over.

CBA got second to Union Catholic in 2021 in the Group Championships and NJSIAA Meet of Champions. UC was very good that year. But they didn’t race each other in a dual meet that year

Depending on where state you are in, public schools can also recruit. A lot of public schools around me have open enrollment. Football teams are loaded with kids from other school districts. I am saying this as a public school advocate and just want to point out that it can also happen with the publics. That said, I agree that the privates/Catholics do it more.

They win the state meet most of the time, but this year they have some decent competition from Haddonfield Memorial and Cherokee. Also interestingly Haddonfield Memorial has a streak of around 270 which has been going from 1997.
Results for this meet aren’t in yet, but here are the CBA freshman 2 mile results from the Ocean County Park meet a few days ago
10:38
11:19
11:22
11:46
11:50

Don’t they have to take an entrance exam and do well on it to get in? And I doubt that fast middle school XC / track times increase people’s chances of being admitted to the school.
I wonder what the acceptance rate is
