I listened to it earlier. I don’t think she said anything about signing a deal. She just said she has a lot in the works. The guy asked her if she has put pen to paper, and she said, “no comment.”

If she announces something “soon”, then isn’t that Nike by default, since the ROFR clause doesn’t expire until November (?)? Unless maybe someone tabled a valid offer and N|ike is not matching it.

Another scenario is whether she can still sign “minor” (non-shoe) sponsors that aren’t subject to the ROFR clause, so maybe she is referring to something like that.

She mentioned the appeal of the roads. Whereas, it might be possible one (or more) particular sponsor might want to restrict her strictly to the track for some number of years. (For example, how many road races were Schweizer or Cranny running in their early pro careers?) But then again, sponsors may see appeal in her selling road shoes, rather than spikes.

Kudos to the kid getting the interviews, but the Palmer interview had some parts that left me scratching my head, e.g., training, what he saw in her, the timeline of the first semester (she had the strange ‘nerve’ injury that semester) where follow-up questions may have helped clarify some specifics.

Signing to stay with the coach who has a busted athlete on the team...nothing to see here.
