Emma Coburn is healthy? That's great to hear, but wonder what shape she's in
Breaks her ankle in late April, racing beginning of September - only 4-1/2 months. Makes you wonder why some other "injured" athletes with supposedly minor injuries skip out for seven months.
I mean, nearly all of them just ran the Olympics, probably their peak/goal race, plus as you mentioned the DL Final is soon. I would have been surprised if the Mile got many of them to participate.
All the pros are absolutely cooked at this point. They only come for the appearance and prize money.
Kerr, Kessler and Hoppel (moving up) are still fit I think. Gourley and Kurgat (albeit racing down) may very well be too. Could be a pretty good race, though you'd expect similar to last year with Kerr pulling away.
But ESP being a New Balance athlete you think she would run. Last year this was her 1st race since giving birth even off cooked post Olympics she should be better than 2023
It's a great race. The fact that you can see so far ahead of you is a bit disorienting so definitely pay attention to how you feel. Take advantage of the downhill at the beginning and remember the middle is flat and I think even has some slight uphill sections so you can feel like you're slowing a bit, so again, just pay attention to feel. Wise to jog it the day before, even, since it's so much harder to gauge distance and pace on the roads. Run in a straight line. Have fun.
why? she's an American distance runner. that's who always makes up 75 percent of the field. there are always some 5k runners, steeplers or 800 specialists in there.

learn how to spell her name.
I edited the post to correctly spell her name. Don’t be a douche about it.
Interesting choice because it’s a mile, and it’s on the road. I just find it interesting.
Yeah I was wondering where Gourlay was as he normally likes racing lots. I guess for some it’s a choice between the end of the DL races and this. Kerr gets criticised for ducking DL but he usually has this on his calendar. Jakob never does this race. It’s just different schedules for different athletes.
I’m surprised not to see Jemma Reekie, she normally does well here. She may also be focusing on DL final meetings after the Olympics disappointment.
