Netflix just did a reality series on sprinters. what if they did a 4 season series following Mike Smith as he slowly builds the Nike pro team in Flagstaff and have it culminate in the LA Olympics.

It would be insanely boring. Wake up, run, eat, sleep, run, gym, eat, sleep and repeat. There is nothing exciting about being an elite distance runner.

i think it would be fascinating to watch.
Gordon Mack did an excellent near-solo doc on the NAU team during a season of their golden era. its on Flo's youtube unfortunately, but it does a great job scratching the itch while waiting for Netflix to get off their ass.

Maybe a doc covering all US distance running would be more interesting to see if they can build off their success. Obviously we dont know who he will start coaching over the next 4 years, but right now your suggestion would be a doc covering US pro distance running that would not feature Hocker/Nuguse/Kessler/Fisher/Monson/Schweizer/Cranny/Kelati/St. Pierre/Valby in it. Not sure how that appeals to anyone but hardcore flagstaff and NAU people.
truth is these guys are shallow on a personality scale. they aren't courageous, fascinating or really inspiring. They were high school standouts who ran D1 then decided to keep running instead of entering the workforce. for a lot of them their entire identity is tied to their running, they live through life with blinders on to so many other things around them. It is very sad. I can't imagine thinking a TV show about this would be a good idea. It would be a disaster for the sport of distance running.

I think Abdi Nur has a pretty cool story. I also think despite what letsrun says that Nikki Hiltz seems like a personable happy-go-lucky kind of person.
You could probably get some interest out of documenting Woody Kincaid trying to hang on for one last olympic cycle.
I agree it wouldn't be the most compelling thing as i stated above but a disaster for the sport of distance running? Lets pump the brakes on the dramatic statements

Nikki Hiltz has a netflix documentary coming out next year. I was at the Sunset Tour last month and saw a camera crew following them around. should be interesting.

Y'all forgetting about a little hit called THE JERSEY SHORE.
GTL - gym, tan, laundry, Car here, Clubbing, lather-rinse-repeat
Then the Nike crew can hog up the local tracks, scuffles ensue, and then they all kiss and make up at the taco bar. And then On would serve up a super burrito and dreams would be shattered.

I'm down to watch a few hours of slo-mo running around Buffalo Park

I don’t think learning people’s intimate motivations and the little peculiarities which make them unique is boring. only, it seems distance runners tend to be more reserved than sprinters. Idk

As long as there is endless footage of Colin and Nico in short shorts.

yeah you're totally right, I mean imagine if people made youtube channels about this stuff. Would barely get any views......
