Don't know if he really cares THAT much, everyone knows he was in the sport just for the money (and there's nothing wrong with that).
Take for example, at that time the Kenyan athletics federation prohibited athletes from racing too much during an Olympic year, and he didn't give a sh*t about going to the Olympics, just wanted too race as much as possible and make the most amount of money, as soon as he was satisfied with the wealth he had acquired he practically stoped training and retired very, very early.
Only God knows what else he could have accomplished if he had more motivation and love for the sport.
At 3:22 in the morning? Probably sleeping. Although Coevett told me that Daniel has no concept of time.
True story about Daniel Komen - he bought a Dyson vacuum cleaner for his apartment in Teddington, London but couldn't get it to work and he was worried it was broken and he had spent like 300 pounds on something faulty.
The problem? He didn't realize you had to plug it in. I swear on my life that's a true story I was staying in the house next to him and he bought it over to see if we could fix it.

I agree with you – it seems clear that his main motivation was financial gain, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Nice lie, but that was Brojos, as I'm sure you know. I have often referred to it and satirized it as typical of the attitudes of those here who claim East Africans are 'natural born runners', whilst I get screamed at for being 'racist' for denying such pseudoscience and highlighting the rampant doping problem as a more rational and obvious explanation for their success.
Komen is/was a smart man. He doped like a madman for a few short years, and got out when he'd made his money, not caring about Olympic glory. Now he's a wealthy businessman in Kenya, while others are in poverty or dead.

I definitely was sleeping at that time. Nothing will woke me up...
