Jenna Prandini running the 200... I thought someone a few days ago said she went back to LA to do grad school. That would reek of (semi-)retirement, but she's flying to Rome for a DL race?
It’s the longest flat women’s race on the program and I’m sure she and the meet organizers both wanted her there as one of the local Olympic heroes. And she should be able to crush her PB of 4:03.3 since that’s like exactly what she split for the last 1500 of the Olympic 5k. Her final K of that race was 2:36.1 and then she backed it up by closing the 10k in 57.3 🤫
What's with the 14:06 guy in the 5000? Not a local entry, and I can't imagine he's a pacer since he appears to primarily be a mediocre 10k/half guy.
27:26 10,000m run this year at Ethiopian Trials and 10th at World XC. I would agree that still seems like a stretch to have him in the field proper especially if Morgan McDonald (13:00 PB) couldn't get in this meet. It is possible he is pacing, and I think mediocre is harsh but you'd have to think he would be targeting a 13:05-13:10 type time here. That doesn't make a ton of sense to be in the field unless he is pacing.

Nadia will get pulled along to a great time, well under 4. Will be competing with Vissa for a new Italian record.
Curious as to why no US woman is entered.
Have Hiltz & ESP & MacKay shut down for the summer?
More so, was hoping to see Cranny in this race, especially given how fond she is for the 1500/mile. Elise could still get in as an alternate if someone has to scratch.
After an up-and-down first 5 months in her new training environment w/Jarred Cornfield/coach, Elise really nailed it yesterday in Lausanne with that 8:25/3k, just behind 14:18/29:48 runner Gebreselama. That's the Elise Cranny who showed up big at the Olympic Trials. Per her recent IG post, her season is not over. Maybe the 5k next month in Zurich.

Imagine being a 12:47 guy and having only the 9th fastest PB on the start line.
Similarly, the Women's 100m Hurdles in Silesia has an athlete where 12.37 is the 11th fastest PB - which is tied for the 23rd fastest athlete of all time.
In the case of 12:47, that's the 18th fastest athlete of all time.
