Some people rave about IHOP, but I don't think it's that great. Good bargain... but not great quality.
It's better to make them at home!
Here's a great recipe:
Listen, this is no lie. If you are ever in New Hampshire, these pancakes are the best. My family makes an annual journey. The view is of the White Mountain Presidential Range, so you also can't go wrong with their either. You can order different mixes and maple syrup on line as well. We usually carboload and go for a hike. Fab.
how come ihops pancakes are so much better than aunt jemimia's, but they are both powder mixed with water?
Mickey's in Madison, Wisconsin hands down. Order a chocolate malt with them, and you are good to go for the rest of the day.
by far, the best pancakes are at Magnolia in Austin.

I concur! The secret is to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to opening to avoid a 60-90 minute wait. They also give a 15% discount at this time to lure locals early to make the wait shorter for tourists. It doesn't get much better than hiking the Presidentials & finishing it off with an early morning run followed by a visit to Polly's. Be sure to get a picture on the horse out front.

Here's the secret to getting great quality pancakes at home. After you mix your batter of flour, water, egg and oil add two tablespoons of Carnation Malt Powder or any other malt powder to the mixture. Add more water if needed. This is the secret ingredient that nobod wants you to know about. The secret is out!
made my 19 and 15 yo get on the horse last labor day. been taking them since they were babies. snow's melting up there, almost time!
There's a place in Portland who does these really great pancakes -- although I think they call them hotcakes.
They sell them by the "acre" (with the smaller portions being quarter acre and half acre), and they will put any non-distance runner to shame with their clout.
They are huge AND good. Always a great combination.
Me, Mrs. Butterworth's and my electric griddle will take on all comers any time.
I am a pancake freakin God

two best pancake places i've ever eaten at:

Pancake Pantry--Gatlinburg, TN.
In NYC the place to go is Fairway Cafe - but only if you can stand the wait.
Making them at home - Williams Sonoma has a pancake mix that is great.

Youve ever heard of jemimia's witnesses, yeah well she is the leader.
the wagon wheel just outside carmel, california. pay $6 for the best banana pancakes in the world and then $450 to play pebble beach.
I was going to say Aunt Jemima's homemade pancakes, then I read the recipe, which includes: 12 oz. malt liquor and 3 pieces of fried chicken.
That's pretty damn unhealthy.
