I feel like I never hear people talking about him on here EVER, is there a reason for that? Dude ran a 43 flat 8 years ago that no one can touch. No super shoes.

He didn’t quite run 43 flat, which is why we sulkily threw a tantrum and stopped talking about him.

This is true, when he didn’t crack 43, I threw up my hands in disgust. I’ve avoided talking about him ever since.

He badly tore his ACL playing in a charity cricket match, slipped on the grass. What a way to interrupt or even end such a brilliant career.
The way he ran that race was a clear indicator of PEDs. Last 100m superhuman enhanced finish.
Not as superhuman as you’re making it out to be. He split 31.0 for the first 300m (average 10.33 per 100m) and slowed down to 12.03 for the last 100m, which is 1.7s slower. Obviously everyone else in the field slowed down significantly more, but it was his audacious opening 300m that got him the record, not the last 100m. No one has the balls of steel necessary to open that fast and that’s why no one is touching the record for now.

It was strange to see him in the 200m at the olympics. You'd think an event requiring even more speed and power is opposite to what would suit him given his huge injury. Maybe he is playing the long game trying to build speed for the next WC cycle. I personally think he should move up to the marathon.

Two weeks before Rio2016 , Wayde ran 3x 150 in 14.5, 14.3, 14.1.
As a result, his coach Ans Botha told him, “no more speed training before Rio”, and had him running 2:00 and 3:00 repeats instead.
Wayde was really mad, but kept it to himself and fumed all the way through the Olympics, until winning gold in a WR. At which point he came clean to Ans and admitted she made the right decision, as without the endurance runs he never would have held the back end of the race together.
True story, and now LetsRun has talked about Wayde, we can go back to ignoring him again.

Fascinating, thank you for sharing that. What an amazing and intuitive coach.
