I don't blame him. Covid shouldn't stop someone from partying after they've been crowned the fastest human. There has to be exceptions. You think everyone in the Olympic Village who had covid stayed in their rooms?

Lyles was low key worried about the 200 ever since the US trials where he seemed to not be as effortlessly running as he normally would like (he went a little overboard on the 100m training)
He had to strain 110% in the 100 in paris. 200 comes around he runs a preliminary and knows he's getting beat by bednarek and probably someone else. His face was very telling then.
He felt a slight cold(not shocking given the travel) and proclaimed himself covid positive without taking a test. Going into the 200 final if he had won the race he would have told no one(hence his big entrance). Since he lost he could pull the covid excuse.
What's a shame is no one would have cared if he lost and got bronze. He's the 100 champ! And he had to give up the 4x1 and probably helped cost the team a gold there as well to keep the lie going.

When exactly was he seen partying? Was it after the 200 or before? My theory is he went partying after winning the 100, got exposed to covid at the party, and then got sick before the 200.
Reports say he was seen partying on Sunday night. I don’t see the big deal. He started feeling sick Tuesday night. Why wouldn’t he be better by Sunday night? Covid in its current form usually only affects people for a few days.
Noah Lyles is a drama queen. My bet is he used covid as a cop out when he lost. He sure didn't look sick before the start of the race. Then he lost the chance for the triple gold so he bailed on his team. Sick enough to miss the race, but not too sick to go out and party? It's good to know who you can count on when things are tough. I'd take Bednarek, Norwood and Benjamin any day over Lyles from here on out.
