Yep northern Australia is tropical so warm year round. Southern australia gets cooler - not to the point of snow but still pretty nippy. My city winter maximums are around 10C and overcast.

What happens to the crocs though? Do they hibernate, or migrate? Are they coming back now? Do they emerge from their dens soon?

They slow down slightly, but not much, it’s cooler up there - but not cold.

How come we punished our convicts by sending them to a lush, semi-tropical paradise while we stayed in the perpetually cold, wet, windy sub-Arctic latitudes? Can't help thinking our ancestors dropped the ball there.
