The women are improving. Of that there can be no doubt. However, Sifan only had to run 14:30, 30:44 and 2:22:55 to win Bronze, Bronze and Gold. This is someone who has run 14:13, 29:06 and 2:13:44. So while her triple was legendary, imagine Galen in his prime running 13:15, 28:22 and 2:15:18 to win Bronze, Bronze and Gold. One would applaud it but one might wonder whether it was being overrated a bit. Of course I am aware that the marathon course was not super fast and that there was a 5000m heat.

You are correct that the 5000m was weak, and never in a million years should an olympic final have allowed a marathoner to medal.
I realize she is a miler, but she made speed sacrifices to be able to marathon, and the 5000m final played right into her hands to cover for those sacrifices.
10k and Marathon, she is qualified through her training to medal, and medal she did.

Weak is the wrong word. Underdeveloped across the world may be a better choice of words. Women have not been competing for as long, don’t have as much of a history, lower participation numbers and lack the depth.
The triple is amazing no matter how you look at it though. Be less of a troll.

You people label posters as trolls when they say things which you disagree with. My point is obvious. I am receptive to the word underdeveloped but I chose the word weak. Either one suffices.
Would you also be willing to add, that compared to men, fewer women, as a percentage of their sex, are interested in sports? My own little world seems to confirm that; it's much easier to find men with a background or interest in sports compared to women. It may always be the case that women's world class fields are not as deep as men's.

Galen in his prime was likely doping hence his performances.

But both the spirit and the substance of your post are entirely wrong
The 5K and 10K were tactical. There are tons of tactical races on the men's side too. Look at centowitz's 1500 gold... Does that mean it was weak just cuz it was a slow tactical race
Look at the men's qualifying rounds and even some of the men's 5K and 10K finals are much slower than world record pace
Further yeah women have historically not been encouraged to be great athletes so they don't have quite the same amount of competition but guess what ?
She's a woman and she's a refugee so she had to deal with those disadvantages her whole life. It's not like she was born into a family that said you're going to be a great runner and had all the advantages
So to sum up there are tons of tactical races both men and women and being a woman she didn't have the advantages that a lot of guys have.
There I just showed that your substance was riddled with lens distortions
I mean I know you are trolling, but the men's times in tactical championship races can also be slow. Jakob won the 5K in 13:13 high, not far off from your theoretical 13:15.

Yes they were tactical. That made them slower and likely easier to recover from. When people are in awe of the triple they need to look at the facts. Hassan is a really good runner who finished an Olympic marathon 3:49 ahead of Dakotah Lindwurm, a runner who probably would be close to 2:30 behind Hassan in a 10000m time trial. You lose me when you start talking about Hassan being a refugee. What the hell does that have to do with any of this? I never said Hassan wasn’t a refugee. I said that her triple is overrated by people who cannot see things for what they are. Beatrice Chebet won the 5 and the 10. She maybe would have won the marathon too, although we will never know.
What facts? You sound dumb. Olympic Record was broken on the marathon and the field was stacked.
Facts are sailing over your head. Hassan ran 9:11 slower than her best time. Yeah it wasn’t a fast course but the Ethiopian man Tola ran 5:51 off the world record. Hassan ran 3 super hard workouts. Intelligence is not your thing.
her ability to stay healthy with a bmi of about 15 explains why she tripled
sure, women's sports in general do not have the depth of male sports, but running is the oldest and purest sport in existence considering mankind has been running for means of survival as long as we've been upright on two legs

She ran that with male pacemakers for pretty much the whole way.
Her PR in a women's only race (which is what the Olympic marathon is) is 2:18.
