Free country, she can do what she wants, she is a WR holder.
But any religion is not "the truth" except to the person who believes it. I don't bemoan her beliefs. I bemoan anyone who expects someone else to believe them, or thinks less of someone who thinks differently when it comes to faith.
Oh yeah sure, she’s persecuted for her faith (maybe look up the history of that sydney) not her boring basic person that almost never competes. It’s an open secret the Femke is a devil worshipper and that’s the true source of her power and huge fan-base.
How ridiculous. Sydney has never been "canceled". She's one of the most popular women's athletes at these games. I and many others can't stand her given her ultra-religious schtick and the fact that she's scared to actually race real competition, but she has never been "canceled". Total victim mentality.
My thread on this was deleted (letsrun mods church meeting?) but I still cannot understand how egomanichal you’d have to be think god is occupied by world class athletes running fast around a track or jumping high over a bar.
Do most people have a problem with athletes giving credit to God for their performances?
I think that people have issues with athletes that publicly praise The Lord, then turn around and make tabloid headlines partying hard, banging everything in sight, act foolishly, insult their rivals, and other behavior that is antithetical to their claimed faith.
It's the hypocrisy of a few that makes people roll their eyes whenever a wealthy athlete or celebrity decides to play the God card.
No, don’t care and in fact, I’m an atheist but liked Marisa Howard’s message at the trials about how God would have been there for her even if she was last. (I paraphrase.)
Wild that specifically Americans are so into God/religion and also have the worst math/science/reading test scores in the western world. Remember, Sydney didn’t finish college. Not that she needed to, of course. You just never see a genius being so into God, do you?

She alway has one of the dirtiest coaches in the world

"God does not play dice with the universe"
- Albert Einstein
In a German-language letter to philosopher Eric Gutkind, dated 3 January 1954, Einstein wrote:
The word God is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honorable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish. No interpretation no matter how subtle can (for me) change this. ... For me the Jewish religion like all other religions is an incarnation of the most childish superstitions. And the Jewish people to whom I gladly belong and with whose mentality I have a deep affinity have no different quality for me than all other people. ... I cannot see anything 'chosen' about them.

Terrible test scores indeed but you think religion is the problem and not LGBTQ, DEI and gender change issues forced on our youth while the time could be better spent actually teaching math/science/reading?

The issues listed are fairly new in the educational sphere, and yeah, accepting people for who they are - how awful. Poor education in the U.S. has been an issue for decades.
Read Anti-Intellectualism in American Life by Richard Hofstadter. Tough read but worth it.

Almost none of that is even brought up before college almost anywhere. So stop bringing up misinformation and right-wing talking points.
Our education system failing has nothing to do with this and more to do with not obtaining and retaining qualified teachers consistently; drug issues in much of the country which distract kids, including at home; incompetent parenting is hitting its stride on a societal level never seen in this country before; parents having too work too many hours, not being involved and this plays into the last one but isn’t the only issue; technology addiction is making ADHD the mainstream
She's going to be pretty upset after she "dies" and learns that she's actually in a Sisyphean nightmare where she's doomed to run a lap around a track with hurdles, thinking she's done, only to have to do it again.
