Could be. Legit question. He could also be mentally and physically done and just trying to cash in before retirement, have a serious chronic injury, doing to much advertising etc. could be a lotta things, buuuuuut, your probably right
I don't know, seems just as likely this is what natural aging looks like.
Getting old just sucks
They could be linked, but I've also heard reports that the guy was actually born in 1976.
If that's the case, he had some incredible performances well into his 40s, and the sharp drop-off began at the age of 46.

You're probably the same type of poster who was claiming that there was nothing crazy about him breaking the WR at 37, which was just 2 years ago.
But one might ask why would he show up and embarrass himself and not just retire.

Is it a downfall? He just ran 2:02 within the last year. Hes most likely at least 41, again mind you running 2:02. And you’re saying his downfall? Let me get this straight…if someone dnf’s they should retire or if they can’t break 2:02 they should retire? Do you expect him to age and keep dropping faster times? It doesn’t work that way at the elite level.

Damned if he does / doesn't. If he performs well, it's more evidence of juice. If he doesn't, he's "embarrassing himself". There's an awful lot of posters on this site that sling crap because of their own inadequacies.
