He should have never competed to begin with, too young and no experience. Was never ready for that moment
Communication with him was apparently poor. I'm not surè what his daily training was likè the past 3 weeks.
Personally, I would have used him in heat 1 of mixed relay. Am happy though that he raced, and his teammates picked him up.
Eager to see his performance next year, as he still is high school age.
The off-track stuff has definitely had an effect on him, and being a younger, less experienced athlete, probably isn't used to dealing with that sort of sh** whilst trying to focus on racing.
USADA: 💉💉💉
WADA: ❌️❌️❌️
Why they would run him in the 4x400 instead of the mixed relay? He was in good shape prior to the games, so letting a 16 year old who needs more guidance with his training sit around for two weeks doesn't make much sense.
Could be anything. Could have been some kind of bad experience in the Village, bullying, etc. It could have been "first time away from home" nerves. It could have been that he was out partying constantly in Paris or chasing the ladies. It could be a lot of things. We'll never know.
He's a kid. He usually runs off the track and down the tunnel skipping the interview. He should have skipped this interview also. No one has taught him the cliches yet.
WTF!! 47.27? How does a person who has run 44s numerous times out of the blocks, run 47.27 in the Olympics on a relay? WTF. I haven't seen the race yet, but did he cramp up or throw up while running? Was he sick before running and didn't tell the coaches? Inexcusable. You can screw up your own race, but never screw up the relay.
WTF!! We could have put any sprinter on that leg and they would have run faster than that. Damn, too bad Quincy.
coaches made a mistake. I feel like were more concerned with getting a good story than the best team. Thankfully the other 3 runners bailed him out. I thought it was a mistake to have him lead off. Agree should've been on the mixed relay
I am still a big fan of his but that was an awful performance. I understand something was going on with him but the 4x400m men's team is the GOLD standard for excellence in US athletics. They've won gold in 18 of the 25 events hosted in Olympic History. You don't let that team down. Period.
The blame should be on the coach. He is too young to know to say "hey I can't do this, something is off." Good coaches have a pulse on this type of thing.
Even a limping Michael Norman could have done better.
At this point, they should send him back home to Maryland so he can get ready for HS. Let him get back to normal life and reset before too much damage is done to his mental health.
Well for the record, this 47.27 was out of blocks, too.
Anyway, my guess based on his quote is that he’s a werewolf. If he was out all night on all fours howling and looking for prey, he could still have been transitioning back to his usual form this morning and dead tired to boot.
Looked like there was some tape on his hamstring under his tights.
Yesterday I posted that I was against him running because this is a situation for professional grown @ss men. Well... look at this result..
This kid should have years and years of 4x4s and big races in his future, but we are deep enough in this event to use one of our PROFE$$IONAL track athletes and NOT a high schooler.
The Men's side of the T&F is different than the women's and this aint gymnastics. I know we all wanted the story, but we shouldnt let that get in the way of the performance.
I wouldn't be surprised if he has COVID too. It's lurking around the Village.
Everyone needs to chill. Clearly, mistakes were made and this young man wasn't ready for the big spotlight yet. No harm done. The USA is in the final and Quincy has learned a lot. Some of you really need to tone it down.
Chill. He’ll figure it out. He’s at the age where a lot of people around our age were posting moody ambiguous song lyrics on AOL Instant Messenger. He’s handling it a lot better than a lot of us would have. And it’s been a long high school season for him and who knows how his training has gone. He’s not a pro.
As to the other competitors: get him while you can, because it’s not going to last.
US relay teams have decades of fukups and you're going jump all over a 16yo kid?
All of you should be ashamed.

Old enough to race in a men’s event, old enough to be criticized.
