Blew her wad. Cost her a silver. But I guess a relay gold is better than an individual silver??
No, I feel an individual silver is far better. Doubt many runners prefer relay medals.
Nope, she's proud of the experience the relay opportunity gave her. She has the only gold medal she'll earn this meet. She just had a bomb dropped on her at hurdle 7 and 8 and didnt handle it well giving up silver. Cockeral earned her silver by going 100% to the finish line.

No it did not hurt her. She ran the first 200 too hard trying to keep up with Sydney. When Sydney then kicked into another gear and she had nothing, she just deflated.

It may have cost her the Silver. We'll never know.
But the 47.9 relay leg and team relay Gold was a signature moment of these Games.
That iconic Gold plus the individual Bronze is better than just the Silver.
Now what if Sydney ran the mixed relay, too? The US would have won with her giving a medium effort. It may have cost her the 400 IH record, but not the Gold.
Are you out of your mind? That mixed race was always the more significant race. It's the reason I mentioned it here and elsewhere dozens of times.
The comparisons to Sydney were preposterous. I was already watching videos of Bol when she was 16 and 17 because several Dutch track fans upload the local races to YouTube. Sydney was already Olympic caliber at that point while Bol was lumbering around with no early speed at all and getting stuck at 54 at 400 flat year after year. As a gambler I never set aside the big picture. It was an all time prodigy with vastly more natural athletic ability and natural speed, versus an extremely admirable stepladder type who is dedicated to her craft and better indoors than outdoors.
Bol was victim today of her own overachieving. It was sad to see her cry after the race. I was glad to see her parents trackside to comfort her. Now she can grasp the significance of that mixed relay rally for gold. My long expressed fear in that event was that Bobby Kersee would allow Sydney to jump in and run the final. She would have blown away Bol by 10+ meters and fans everywhere would have used it as rationalization that Sydney could have doubled at 400 flat also. I still have no idea how Bobby Kersee was scared and stupid enough to steer away from that. It wouldn't have impacted today's result at all.
It may have cost her the Silver. We'll never know.

They jumped the fifth and sixth hurdles near simultaneously to the naked eye and the seventh almost together but then Syd just sped off into her own orbit on the way to the eighth hurdle. Bol was drained in that stretch and stutter stepped the final tenth hurdle.
It may have cost her the Silver. We'll never know.

idk what meet you've been watching but this doesn't crack my top 5...fringe top 10 honestly

In the Netherlands an athlete gets 30K euros for gold, 22.5K for silver and 15K for bronze. With her 2 medals she'll get 45K euros versus half that if she had focused on just the hurdles and finished second. Plus the relay gold endeared her even more to her fans back home.
Imagine if Bol and Klaver hadn't run the mixed relay? Both would have been shattered by the results in their primary event during their mid career Olympics.
Instead they go home with Olympic gold, gold and silver from 400 indoor world championships, European Championships gold and bronze plus relay gold, and another Olympic relay opportunity beginning tomorrow.
It's the reason you place the math in your favor by taking advantage of every opportunity all year. Neither one of them is a special athlete who was always pegged for greatness.
Now that Bol has mixed relay gold I don't think it's out of the question they might have her skip it in Los Angeles 2028. Obviously tons of things can happen in the interim. Bol at 28 will undoubtedly have a lighter schedule than recent years. There are a few promising juniors who might be capable of running sub 50 legs at that point.
But in terms of sub 48 like this year, forget about it.
