He is NOT sick. Just a manufactured excuse for losing. Once he got beat in the 100 prelims, 100 semis, barely won the 100 final by 0.004, and then had the #6 fastest time in the 200 prelims, and lost the 200 semi, he knew he had no chance to win.
But he can execute 2m high frog jumps to perfection before the race? If you have covid, why not conserve your limited energy for the race? Hold that L. The recordbooks will forever show that Lyles does not have a 200m gold!!
I don't see the issue given the attitudes in other sports, a bunch of riders like geraint thomas tested positive for covid before the first rest day in the tour de france and continued and finished the race 2 weeks later.
Riding in a close bunch and doing 4-6 hour intense days of cycling back to back makes doing a 200m sprint with covid is not a big deal.
Definitely effected his performance, but given the precedents set with covid now it is no big deal to run with it if you want to imo.
