Shocking.
Lyles has been built up to be the dominant 100m runner in the same way Maurice Greene, Bolt and Gatlin were.
Problem is he hasn't backed it up yet the way the others have done, he's a 200m specialist.
Feels just like what the US did to Kerley going into Tokyo.
Jacobs looked awful. I don't think he will make the final. Lyles' interview was corny as hell. Put up or shut up Noah.

Thompson looked the best from R1. Now to the rounds that matter.
Lyles has the easiest semi. Nevertheless, managing energy levels remains crucial. It remains to be seen how much effort he will exert to advance to the final. The other two semis are stacked and it will be interesting to see how hard the favourites run to secure their places in the final and what they have left for the final after doing so.
I am only sure of the following 4 for the final thus far and would be extremely surprised if they don't make it:
Thompson
Tebogo
Bednarek
Seville
Pressure will get to many. And many will use up too much energy in the semis and don't have quite enough for the final.

What did he say on NBC?. He was his usual accommodating self in the mixed zone. The lady tried to get him through their and he said he had another minute to talk

He said his first 10m was good but he didn’t put enough into his acceleration and underrated his competition in the heat. He also said he was nervous coming in but now him not winning the heat makes him “pretty scared for everyone else.” It was a good interview, he was contrite and confident, and reiterated he is in a much better place than Tokyo with his family there, the crowds and the excitement /celebrity from “Sprint”.
Thompson looks like a lock for gold. Calling it now.
Seville looked good but not nearly as comfortable as Thompson. I think he’ll medal. Not sure which yet.
as far as I’m concerned, the other medal spot is wide open. Don’t sleep on hinchcliffe or sani brown
Thomson has the speed but hope inexperience doesn’t cost him the medal. Kerley and Tobago looked really smooth and knows how to run 100m under pressure. Noah is still 100m world champion but if he has higher chances of making mistakes among all top dogs
