I still don't understand how Nordas mades such a massive improvement that year, yet has gone backwards this year. I haven't read of any claimed injury problems or health issues.

As a Norwegian I root for both Narve and Jakob, and I also prefer that athletes are given the same conditions when it comes to preparations, support and so on. (If possible). But a focus that now claims that Nordås’ medal chances is reduced because of the lack of a sparring partner the last few days pre Olympics seems extremely stretched. -Jakob for instance had none in Tokyo OG…

“Gone backwards”? -The season isn’t over yet, and he has done some good races (in off events -even came “close” to beat Jakob in the 5000m in Nationals). Yes, he’s unstable -but that’s not a new trait (may even make him exciting)… And in his last 1500m he was a few hundreds behind 3.29 guy (and Commonwealth winner) Ollie Hoare.

Norwegian papers are desperate to come up with something about either Jakob or Narve because it will generate a lot of clicks. During the European champs there was a lot of this because Narve gave interviews and took the bait from the media. He later stated that this took a lot of focus and blamed his poor results on the outside "noise" of the conflict.

This time it has been quite different, except for the music video and a very short interview with Jakob 2 weeks ago no papers has had anthing new to write about any of them leading up to Paris. Seems to me like both camps have managed to block it out and Svelas outburst has been his own frustration and not something that will have an effect on Narve. He jokingly told NRK yesterday that it has been enough "fuming and raging", clearly taking a jab at the papers desperately looking for conflict to write about.
