Somehow he has run 1:47.48, 3:32.16 and 12:54.72, and he is still only 24. So he is like a Nico Young, only almost 3 years older. So does he have a very good 10000m in him like Nico?

He won the US 10k cross country championships without specifically training for it. He destroyed the bor brothers and drew Hunter(finished 4th in the 10000 trials). He should at least try to run the sound running 10k and see if he can hit the standard. It that doesn’t work out, it’s time to steeple.
Teare is a damn good runner, but he lacks a devastating kick. This is a big problem in championships. When he controls the pace with a field of lesser or equal runners, he can win. But when he is with runners with better PRs or better kicks, he does not. Bob Kennedy was similar except he was the best American. Like Kennedy, they both have/had some 1500m/mile chops but it was not their best event.
It is not unreasonable that he will develop a better kick and improve his PRs. His 12:54 is closer to top Americans and international runners than his 1500. He probably should be focused on 5000/10000. Running the 1500 at the OTs hurt his 5000 chances and he really was a long shot in the 1500m.
He was never in it this 5k. Or 1500m. It is hard to imagine things being much different at 10k. He isn’t exactly speed limited at the 5000 where going to the 10k is an obvious solution.
He is on a level of the best Americans in history.
At this point in his career he’s never made a major outdoor championship final, never made an Olympic team, and has failed to qualify for the last 2 major champs.
Since he is defending champion at 10k XC, I think there is a trend there. Perhaps he just doesn't like the training for distance the way he likes the short stuff.

Teare’s problem is that he’s just a level below the best guys. Nuguse, Hocker, and Kessler are better and younger (Nuguse is slightly older, but newer to serious running). Absent injury, he won’t make teams in the 1500. In the 5000, Blanks, Wolfe, & Nico were on another level at the trials, and all three are also younger and more capable of closing a championship 5000. Given his times, I understand that he’d think he’s capable of making teams, but there isn’t a clear path in his chosen events, and unless something changes, that’s the way it’s gonna be throughout his career.
He should have focused on just the 5k at the trials. He had a better shot in the 5k, the 1,500 is very competitive this year, and he could have been one of the few fresh runners not doubling back like Parker Wolfe.
