This Is an interesting scenario, think about It. Kiplimo and Cheptegei making insane fast pace and Hagos Gebrhiwet smashing the race with his crazy furious unbeatable last 600m.
This is really happening, happening i am not scaremoungering.

The Ugandan (and Ethiopian) tactic of injecting pace is often unbeatable, but they’ll probably have to exercise some restraint with the injections at the Olympics.
Where was his crazy unbeatable final 600m last year?

Why would anyone with a chance to medal volunteer to be the sacrificial lamb just so Jakob can't win? That makes no sense at all. Not only that - it isn't happening.
I do agree though that this time around, Kiplimo could set a fast pace. He did it at the last Olympics but has never raced the 5k since then. They will set a fairly fast pace that could result in a sub 13 race. However, I don't see how that changes the Gold Medal result for Jakob.
Wasn't it the Kenyans/Ugandans/Ethiopians that promised to do the same thing to Farah back in 2015/2016 and Farah still came out on top?
None of them were willing to throw away a medal to benefit the other.

It would be the Ethiopians doing it not the Ugandans. They have two guys in Yihune and Mehary who are young and possibly able to be convinced to trade the lead to set up Gebrhiwet. This might be why the Federation put them in instead of doubling any of their more credentialed 10,000 guys with faster PBs. Gebrhiwet has the best kick off a fast pace, maybe ever (capable of running sub-55 in pretty much any-paced race).
That's a good point. Young ethiopians making a fast pace for Hagos
That might be. But make no mistake; to drop Jakob they got to be prepared to run > 12:30.
The only thing sure is that a final with 12min 45 sec will definitely hurt Jakob for the remaining of the season. He said it himself. Don't make this 5000m a walk in the park for him.
He will have a walk in park with finals 12min 9sec+.

Exactly. Suppose they do end up making it a 12:40 race. Why would that drop Jakob?
You left out their max doses of various PEDs.
13mins 09 sec (sorry)
Look at what happened to Cole Hocker in the American trials with 12min 58
or what happened to Katir with that 12mins 45 sec last year at Monaco. He needed at least one month to recover.
Did Jonas win the tour? I missed the final ITT
This same thread would happen every year when Mo Farah was a 3:28/12:40 guy and was unbeatable in the 5000m. Every year people agreed it was the only way to beat him yet it NEVER happened. Now we have a slightly better version of Farah in Jakob and I can assure you it will still NEVER happen. Prisoner’s dilemma. Just because they represent the same country doesn’t mean the athletes aren’t looking out for themselves. The only way to beat Jakob is to be at his level and out-kick him
LOL.
It doesn't matter. They're not going to beat the 3:26/3:43/7:23/7:54-guy in any scenario.
The difference here was 1/100 sec !

After running a 3:43 mile the previous day.
Lol. Jakob had run a 3:43 mile less than 24 hrs earlier.

Put it in your head. A modder of LRC said it some days ago.
The 800m is not the speed of the 5000m.
The trial times of Jakob in the 1500m will never be the speed for 5000m.
He is not a runner naturally built for longer distances.
