I would have expected a legendary program like CU to hire someone who actually has director experience.
I'm sure this dude is a good coach but Mike Smith does 99% of the hard stuff at NAU.
They didn't get any more experienced applicants?
Source said cal poly’s coach reached out. I also heard that Sean brosnan was a possibility. Although Mike Smith does a lot at NAU, having a coach from that staff can’t hurt.
Minor aside: If true, good vs. bad for Elise Cranny? Although he'll have to be more focused on a collegiate team as the head coach, he'll also be in much closer proximity.
Per sources, CU expects to hire the NAU assistant following their interview process. Source says public announcement expected on Monday
Nice try. Interviews were this week but on campus visits haven’t happened yet. He might be in the final running, but absolutely no decisions have been made yet.

Nothing but good!!
Elise is a vet so doesn't need TLC every day from a coach.
Plus, her seasoned training partners Tai Dinger and Charlie Sweeney also know the drill.
Having Jarred observing/analyzing practices once or twice a week is all that's needed for him to gauge how Elise is responding to his workouts.
So, Elise has to be over the moon about this, if true.
BTW, Elise's current setup has many parallels to Jess Hull.
Both ran for Nike super teams (at least they were at the time), then struck out on their own, returned to their hometowns & families, selected coaches who have been long-time acquaintances (in Hull's case, her dad), and both employ male training partners.
I would suggest Elise even has a slight advantage over Jess given she now lives and trains at altitude year-around.
Now, within the last month, these changes have paid off for both, immensely.

Why? Colorado doesn't care about track and Mark and Heather barely recruited.
A distance only person is more than fine for me.
I can't believe you want them to hire a credentialed has-been versus and up and comer. I would always try to hire the next star coach. YOu can easily fire them if it doesn't workout.
You don’t have to believe me but my source in the program told me he’s the guy. Do with that which you will. Announcement Monday will prove this right.

That would be incorrect. On campus visits/interviews took place this week for finalists. Decision will be announced very soon.
