It is hard AF to be a new parent and they are really young too. And if you think this is hard for Jakob, think about all the mom athletes who can't exactly go away from their families to train. We can go in circles all day debating the sexism of it all, or we could actually come up with some solutions. There really needs to be more support for the immediate family members of these athletes, especially when very young children are involved.

And what do you expect him to do about it? It's biology that men don't give birth so he can train even an hour after she gave birth. Should Jakob pretend he was pregnant?

I would say this is simply a post partum reaction. Nothing really groundbreaking. Any time you post on social media crying though... that is a wild move.

From a PR perspective, this isn't good optics for Jakob right before the Olympics. It could and should have been prevented by his agent/manager well ahead of time in my opinion. There has been plenty of time to plan for a new baby and the logistics involved. Why not negotiate some sort of childcare and/or travel stipend from his sponsors? Meanwhile, I'm sure they (the sponsors) have appreciated and benefitted from the media attention surrounding his marriage and new baby...up until now.

This. Jakob had the audacity to leave his wife behind at the hospital while she was in labor to do a track workout. That’s just a shocking display of selfishness. He set the tone right then and there that she was on her own for taking care of the child. This video confirms he is a terrible husband and father.
