Doesn’t say anywhere they can’t afford it without your help. Sounds like a cash grab.
Also, she’s a woman, not a “girl.”
Wait - these people are asking for $30,000 so they can go watch a family member compete in the Olympics?
I’d like to go too, can you donate $300 to me, Doug?
$30,000 is FAR more than will be necessary, unless they are planning on having the entire extended family attend and take in all the sights of Paris while they are there. I've been to Paris and know it is expensive, especially during the Olympics, but $30K is too much to ask for.

Here is what the Gofundme link states:
“Help Aaliyah's Family Attend Paris Olympics”
The key word is family. It doesn’t state anything about the athlete no being able to go, as your thread title suggests.
That said, I hope that her family can attend. I just am not a fan of everyone using crowdfunding these days
Which just goes to show how old Douglas Burke is - he comes across as a guy in his 70's at least.

It would be barbaric to fly across the pond in coach!
Gen Z: I can't afford a house 😫
Also Gen Z: ooooh, ima donate $1,000 to this gofundme 😍
no one donated $1000 to the gofundme. You are just deciding to be a miserable twat. GTFO.

I am trying, I make barely over Minimum Wage, had Some saved up, I wll probably not have enough to buy the Terence Crawford VS Madrimov Fight, which I wanted to see on PPV.
Sometime about 10 years ago it became normal to ask people to fund your vacation on gofundme.

I pledge to take the amount I spend on supporting this site and buying t-shirts here and DOUBLE it to donate to this cause.
That's right - double means twice the amount!
The peacock app is $4.99 a month
You don't have to donate. I imagine it's possible parents, grandparents, maybe siblings or extended family would like to attend to watch her compete, which would be very expensive for multiple family members. Her family may not have a lot of money to afford the trip and are looking for help. I would guess if you made the Olympics you would want your family there, or if your kid made the Olympics you and your family would want to be there to support them. I personally wouldn't do a GoFundMe, but if you don't agree with just don't donate.

Right? Us Gen Xers used to sell lemonade.
Or wash cars.
Or hold a bake sale.
Like Tony's mama in Scarface, we worked for our money, not rely on "political contributions" like Tony.
Thought this was about our queen Parker valby and was ready to open up the checkbook
When I saw the thread title, I thought it was about a 16 yr old from a poor country whose Olympic Committee did not have the money to send her to the Olympics.
