He normally peaks at the right time - it’s even more important this year. He knows what he’s doing - just because we all want to see interesting races doesn’t mean they have to change their plan.
Jakob could be over-racing. He loves to race clearly but is he timing his peak correctly? Athletes can’t stay in PB shape for months. It’s no coincidence he gets ‘ill’ for the big championships.
Maybe he’ll pull it off but his strategy is more risky than Kerr’s. Especially when coming back from injury.

Even the staunchest Kerr fan has to admit there is humor in Mackey/Kerr excitedly celebrating Josh not having to race Gourley and Mills in the 1500 at UK Champs (oh the horror of a race with stakes), whereas Jakob voluntarily doubles and destroys both at Euros in separate events. Then Jakob who could skip his own nationals soloes a decent time in bad conditions in the 1500 and decides he wants to double back for the 5000 and beat Nordas purely because he can. Meanwhile Kerr (allegedly) gets in a phenomenal 800m training block and tries to run tactical 1:45s, falls and of course won’t touch the event despite plenty of opportunities to do so.

I doubt it. He’ll probably run Laussane 1500m because it is right after the olympics. Then run the 7th ave mile on sept 8th and close his season there. The two races Jakob won’t be in funnily enough.

Jakob was in PB shape for months. Getting a sore throat is a result of external factors, not internal. But he is besides the point. Kerr does not get to call himself the best 1500m runner in the world. He has a spotty track record in world and olympic finals and even moreso in regular season races. I support runners who compete more and accept the truth rather than a guy who pretends he is the best and exudes fake confidence but is really not that good relatively speaking.

I never mentioned Jakob. See how Kerr is irrelevant without mentioning a guy who is 10x better than him? Also, a 443 2k and a 343 mile with a 723 3k is hardly blowing a load in the preseason.

So - Jakob uses races as his race-effort training. Most of his training is well below true mile pace effort (aka Double Threshold). Therefore,his races are actually training (i.e.. he doesn't taper).

And his consolation for us (as fans) is to compete in the Grand Slam league -- where he knows the heavy weights (Nuguse, Ingibritsen,etc..) likely won't participate.

I’m pretty sure rightly or wrongly he cares more about performing well at the Olympics than ‘promoting’ the sport with lots of DL races.
Many athletes have had a reduced race schedule this year, lots avoided indoors for example. It’s a fine balance and will vary per athlete.
He literally set a world record, an area record, and won a global championship already this season. Also he is the defending world champion over 1500. The guy you want ranked ahead of him lost the last 2 times they faced off. Where else should he be ranked but first?

Can you guys just stop with the blatant spreading of misinformation already. Its not like he’s always ill. It has happened twice in his entire career. Last year and the indoors against Tefera which was covid….
