Rupp once said he answered every question about doping...when in reality he has answer almost no questions about it.

When your coach send you pills hidden inside a book (his own admission) something ain't right.

Dude is either the most naive person on the planet or Lance Armstrong type doper.

So I really don't care what he has to say until he mans up and answers some real questions.

20-26 mile treadmill run seems like one of the most dreadful human experiences possible.

Galen never had a choice between winning a 2:10 or not winning a 2:03, so he sounds rather ridiculous with that comment.

It was pretty obvious he was speaking hypothetically. Emphasizing the point he always cared more about winning.

Love Galen. Hope he has at least a couple good more in him and rides off into the sunset with his family, maybe some coaching which I think he’d be great at.

He says that because it rationalizes his never having run a real fast marathon. The local Turkey trot winner could say he would rather win in 16:30 than lose in 15:55 when he perhaps has no choice in the matter.

Sadly, most of the older athletes usually don't know when to quit. They always think they can come back one more time. Cram, Aouita, Salazar, Adam and Kara Goucher are but a few examples of runners who tried to hang on a little to long. Kipchoge may be the next one if he falters at the Olympics like in Tokyo. Rupp's injury issues over the past few years have prevented him from running up to his standards. I wish him the best and hope I am wrong but he will likely not run one more great one due to his age, and injury issues.

All you Letsrun morans can’t learn to just shut up and enjoy the greatness.

I tried 20 on a 200m indoor track once.

I did a few miles before going outside in the ice and snow.

“Sprinter in a distance runner’s body” sounds exaggerated. He was not that quick and was talented in distance.

Not hitting high school workouts is not that bad

He ran 13:30s in high school with less endurance than now. He probably has enough speed for a Trials marathon.

I am glad he is going to keep going. He's such a genetic freak that he might actually be able to mount a comeback at age 38.

And ya, those long treadmill runs sound like hell... I thought Valby's 10 hours/week on the arc trainer sounded miserable. Rupp is half human, half machine.

I’d rather watch wnba than run over 30 minutes on a treadmill, 45 at the absolute maximum. 20-26 miles is crazy

I've run a 15-miler on a treadmill before due to very icy conditions outside. It's honestly not so bad once you're through the first bit.

Agreed. A 20-miler on a treadmill would take Rupp around two hours. Lots of people run on a treadmill for that long.
