they're doping even more than track athletes and no one cares.
WADA is a disgrace.
Becuase they don't drug test? NFL will suspend a couple people per year, very occasionally a star (Deandre Hopkins) for 6 games...which is 3/8ths of a season, even less now
Imagine if Katir or Shelby were only banned for 4 months.

It’s less about the money and more so about athletics being a sport where performance depends heavily on physical limitations.
While strength/physicality impacts performance in all sports, most place greater emphasis on skill and strategy when compared to athletics. Other sports allow greater room for improvement through long-term, consistent practice. A 100m sprinter will enjoy far more benefits from steroids use compared to a golfer or basketball player, meaning they are more willing to take that risk. This also means that drug use compromises the integrity of athletics far more than many other sports, so drug testing is of greater value.
Other sports that place greater emphasis on a competitors physical strength, like cycling, powerlifting, or swimming, also face massive issues with doping and performance enhancing drugs.
Yes the NBA and NFL are rife with PED use bit there's a lack of testing to start and most importantly protection for star players/revenue cows such as LeBron James. Anyone being busted is just for show and must not be in good standing with the players association or league overall.

I actually don't agree with this. Team sports also depend heavily on physical limitations, it's just not as obvious when you're competing against someone else instead of the clock. But look at what happened to baseball in the late 90s.
It's very likely that 100% of NFL and NBA players are doping. You simply couldn't make the league if you didn't, since there is essentially no testing. Fans either don't know this or have made their peace with it. In track, at least there is enough testing that one can hope athletes are clean.

This.
Count the PGA Tour on that list.
I know a guy that played in some PGA Tour events and he told me that Dustin Johnson had failed a test for cocaine and they were going to lie and say he hurt his back pulling a jet ski out of the water to account for his absence (guys were openly talking about it in the locker room). Then that was exactly what happened.
Look up the Pouncy twins on Insta... they look they are each down about 120 lbs.. it is shocking. I wonder how many drugs they were on to get as big as they were.
The big money sports in the USA have powerful players unions that make it such that doping is very easy to do without getting caught. Even when caught, the penalties are mild, sometime the drug isn't even mentioned.
The fans of these sports tend to be less purist (with the possible exception of baseball) and want good entertainment value over purity.
Track and Field fans choose purity and obscurity. Sadly, they only get the obscurity, whereas what little purity might appear to be remaining, is an illusion.

I think track chose purity, but not obscurity. I don't think drugged up world records would make track more interesting. 3:43, 1235, etc are plenty fast. I don't think people would suddenly tune in more to see 336, 1222 or whatever drugged up athletes could run. Even if it were 12 mins and 330 for the mile, I don't think it would make track more popular. Needing to dope to run at a pro level would make track even less accessible to the masses.

You are right, but the previous poster was simply pointing out that in a "no skill sport" like the 100m dash or the 10km, the ONLY thing that matters is physical ability. A dog or a zebra could "win" the olympics in our sport.
You could not train a dog or zebra to play Quarterback or to be in the NBA. Those sports also have strategy, skill, and various specific abilities that are not "just physical."
That is why those sports care less about doping. The other factors are just as important and are what separate the winners from the losers. Players who are physically stronger than Steph Curry don't always have more rings than Curry...
So yes, those leagues are rife with PED use but they also have about 50 other factors that make them interesting.

That was the argument with the doping in baseball. No matter how many roid you injected, that still doesnt mean you can hit a fast ball. While there's some logic to that, what they fail to take into account is the power that gives a hitter. Maybe they are able to hit farther, so balls that were doubles are now HRs, also it just allows an athlete to train more, train harder etc..
In moneyball, they talked about how a guy who hit for average could develop power, but someone who hit for power would never develop the ability to hit for average. Now it's pretty clear that the way the guys who hit for average developed power was through PEDs. I would love to see Michael Lewis add a chapter to his book that discusses how things look different now that we know Oakland was the center of the doping universe for baseball. The key to their success might have had more to do with biochemistry than statistics.
Don't hear about a lot of PEDS being used in Europe's big soccer leagues such as the EPL, Serie A, La Liga, Bundesliga, and Ligue 1. These leagues are huge money makers. Haven't heard much about PED drug use in the PBA. You know, 1 man, 1 ball, 10 pins, the ultimate challenge!
i'm not saying that i want people, especially women, to feel like they need to take hormones in order to be competitive
but ultimately the NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB, etc. are simply being professional by keeping WADA tf away from their athletes. humans in every industry known to man use what are ultimately performance enhancing drugs.
the sports that understand they are 100% not going to change human nature also happen to be the sports where the athletes make the most money and provide the greatest entertainment.
i think the NFL is technically registered as an entertainment company rather than a sporting entity. could totally be wrong on that, but feel like i saw that recently. it's a better business model, unfortunately.

because they don't talk about it.
Guardiola himself was popped for a burr..
I mean nandrolone.
Pogba was caught taking t.
What they are all using tho is EPO.
If an athlete is caught it's because other reasons made him get caught... Pogba was always injured, people were losing money,'so they decided to pop him.
Big sports would tie WADA up in court and bankrupt them if they went after a big sport pro athlete. So WADA chooses not to fight
The big lie is that PEDs are super crazy dangerous. These pros take the PEDs during their pro career, then go off of them, shrink down to normal size and live a long life.
This isnt what we want to hear, but it appears to ring true.
