During tonight’s pod, Wejo and Rojo discussed the Olympic medal prospects for our brilliant new 1500 squad (what a race!!). I thought the analysis by Wejo and Rojo was spot on, except for their complete dismissal of 2021 silver medalist Laura Muir (3:54 in Olympic final and 7x under 3:56). Just as Coogan (tonight) and St. Pierre (after Pre) have both rightly said that 3:52 is a reachable ESP goal for Paris, I believe/predict, that Muir, similarly, has done the work required to PR in the low 3:50’s. Kipyegon (whom Muir has praised to the skies) has inspired everyone to improve, and we’ll learn that Muir has been single-minded in this pursuit (e.g., little/no tapering for 2024 races).
