He was in another country when his wife was close to going into labor with their first child. Olympics or no Olympics he shouldn't have left her like that. She'd have to wait anxiously while he was on the flight wondering if he'd get there in time, all the while in horrible pain, and then he comes, they go to the hospital, and he dips for another track session?

This isn't balancing a full time job with training. His wife was in labor with their child. Prioritizing a track session while his wife is in pain and labor isn't worthy of praise.
