Let's hear it for those steeple women. Marisa Howard runs a 15+ second PB to make 1st Olympic team at age 31. Constien 9:03 FTW!

Absolutely.
I was cleaning my apt and thought ‘tonight’s a slow OT night, maybe I’ll just catch the 400h.’ Then kept it on for steeplechase.
After the women’s 5000m, this was the best race of the Trials so far!621 -
What a freaking race.
Howard's pb was 9:22. SHe ran 9:07 is going to Paris.
Constien ran a 11+ second pb of 9:03 to set a Trials record.
And Wayment ran a 3+ second pb to finish 2nd and make her 1st Olympic team.
Even Makezich. She devastatingly had a terrible final water jump, fell on the final barrier and still PRd.
The top 9 all ran a PB.

So much for everyone saying this was going to be the amateur brigade without Coburn and Frerichs. These women can make an impact on the global scene if they compete like this.

Not gonna lie. I was looking up her stats mid-race to make sure I knew who the hell she was.
Prior to the Trials, she'd raced twice and hadn't won either race and hadn't broken 9:30 in either race. In her last race, she ran 9:34.01 for 4th at Portland Track Festival on June 9th.
How in the hell did she do that? Incredible. It's the type of thing you see in some corny movie that's not real.

It is stunning what just happened. I had picked ValConstien, Wayment and Jennings, with Markezich up there. I did not consider Howard would be there.
