If an athlete falls and impedes others in the race, is that enough to support a protest? Anyone familiar with the protest rules that can chime in? Thanks!
Yes but then the host will say something about how the Olympics are rarely fair and the protesters will walk away inspired to switch sports and start a bobsled team.

what are you expecting would be the outcome of that?
'OK we acceptyour protest, here have a 4th OLY spot' ?!?
As a former 800m runner you 100% know these type of things happen and are very very probable, for some reason… especially with the women.
men tend to not try to get to close up on other men, women get too bunched up and try to move themselves in spots they can’t fit. Also, they tend to have less stability. Men can better recover from the bumping.
it sucks for her but it happens. I’ve seen runners have a worser stumble than hers and still win. She will come back and the fire for redemption should be there

Something tella me she was going to either quit or take a substantial break from running if she won OLY Gold # 2 -----
and go into modeling or something more fun for her.
I was there. Hurta-Klecker was in tears after the race. She really wanted this one.
They all want it. Doesn’t change the fact that it didn’t happen and there was certainly no guarantee she would made top 3. This isn’t about feelings. It’s about racing into top 3 spots which she didn’t. She wasn’t even 4th!
I looked again at the video and frankly there were other runners that were really impeded as well including Grace. It’s not like Sage was the only one. Let’s all just move on for Gods sake
Sparing the commentary on woulda coulda shoulda. The answers ‘yes’ Dathan can file a protest. USATF will take his money and buy drinks with it later (that’s where it goes).
It was a final. Nobody can protest your way up and onto a Team. The best you could hope for is a DQ ahead of Sage, but who would that be? That’s just the facts.

It seems to be happening more and more in the 800.
I think going back to 300 in lanes will help.
But, this is not the first time a favorite, fell, was ill, no hieghted, just had a bad day.
That's why they call our system brutal.
Let's say we left one spot open, like Kenya just did.
Who would we add to the team?
My has not proven, over the last year, that she deserves it.
Hurta-Klecker is a good choice.
Kate Grace looked good in the semi's and she was impeded by the fall.
Can he resign, and let someone decent take over this team.
Hmmm... sounds like some sour grapes here. Why are you hating on Ritz? Please reply with some credible facts and logic, please don't rant on about his athletes getting hurt. When coaching at this level injuries come and go and are par for the course.

Probably the MOST idiotic post I've read. The men being more stable and don't bunch up...blah, blah, blah is absolutely insane. Also, what is a "worser" stumble? I'm guessing that your 800m experience was in middle school as is your vocabulary.

And frankly besides the fact that she was not the only athlete impeded, those that were had as much of a chance to being the top 3 as her. Why aren’t we talking about them protesting?? Grace was just as impeded yet was able to physically pull herself together but unfortunately we don’t know how far she would go. Sage isn’t the only one
