Stuck with her strategy to races even at the Olympic Trials. She had no shot of a kick to beat Cranny or St. Pierre so she had to get it going and even ran a PR. She’s got another shot in the 10k at least.
Yep. After years of watching people without the standard go along with a tactical pace, it's refreshing to see a runner with the guts to go for it. Looking forward to watching Parker develop as a pro.
Hmm, I didn't notice this. But then again, I'm not searching for something to be critical of so sometimes I miss good opportunities to be mad about nothing.

Why are we talking about her and not the other 37 folks who have and will take 4th and the 38 others who have and will take 5th?
In hindsight, she should gone for 10,000. I didn't expect Karrissa to be fully recovered and in race shape. I guess everything played out exactly as expected.

Because she made it an interesting race and hit the Olympic standard. If one of the 3 ahead her decides not to double, she goes.

And because it was her only chance to qulaify. It's refreshing to see an athlete play to their strengths and not just fall into the mindset of "Dont lead, run 90s if I have to, & prepare outkick everyone", which many seem to adopt to their detriment. Kudos to Valby for going for it.
Yeah, this is probably the guy who wants to ‘protect women’s sports’ because after running 2.5 miles faster than he could probably do a 400 he’s offended because she was unladylike and spit.
I’ve seen her spit in NCAA races when no one was around her. I doubt she was spitting at Karissa, she was probably just running hard and needed to clear her throat.
Agreed. She ran according to her strengths, gave it her best shot, and ran a PB. What more can be asked? An excellent debut for her against professional competition. None of the women who beat her today were as good as she is at her age.
Count me in as someone who had been a little tired of "Valbymania," but this race made me gain a ton of respect for her. You could see how hard she was pushing to maintain contact even after the pros passed her. She knew what she had to do to have any shot at the team and went for it, refusing to give up even when she knew her chances were slipping. I hope she can make the team in 2028.

Yeah - she also showed a lot of grit not giving up when they went by. She was digging deep.
