I'm sure she is just trying to be "fashionable late to the party" to get attention. She must think people are anxiously watching their computers awaiting her all-important declaration. But the reality is, nobody cares. Nobody has seen her since September of last year. She is all but forgotten at this point.
Everybody knows she is going to declare for the 800 so there is no suspense, despite what she thinks. Personally, I don't care if she runs. I think it would be funny if she planned on declaring at 11:55 pm tonight but accidently falls asleep beforehand and doesn't wake up until hours after the deadline. However, she would just file an appeal and USATF would boot someone else to let her in anyway so it doesn't really matter.
If Sydney, Jenna and Keni (her training partners) have all declared, why hasn't Athing yet?
She will not be running. Sometimes this happens. It is what it is. Don't lose any sleep over it.
She's one of the leading Team USA contenders for a gold medal in track and field. Why would we not lose any sleep over this? She is letting her country down if she doesn't run.

I don't know exact details of her contract but pro deals with Nike, especially in track and field are notorious for being the most lucrative, but also the harshest when it comes to reductions etc when you don't compete in events like the Olympic Games (which in many aspects seems completely fair - just not compared to the bullsh-it contracts NBA players have which allow them to take off 10-15% of their games because they are "tired").
So at a guess, not running in Paris would be a massive thing financially for her. Now maybe she is okay with that - if her rollovers don't kick in she will still make 500k this year (a little over half what she could if she performs well in Paris), but I think it's now abundantly clear that she simply doesn't like this professional track athlete lifestyle - in fact at a guess I would say she absolutely f-ing hates it.
$$$ usually wins at the end of the day so I'd still be surprised if she didn't declare - but this is actually going to be a really big insight into her future in the sport if she doesn't.
She's the only athlete qualified but not declared. Four athletes scratched. She is not trying to get into the 400m or 1500m either (Kersee could have let her go in the 400m without harming his favorite athlete). A real shame if she doesn't run. Not very communicative about why. She must be injured. She's surely not retiring now.
Also, unfortunately, Syd scratched from the 400m, despite being a very, very good gold medal prospect.

Because she’s full of herself and thinks she needs to make a big entrance and statement by waiting until the last minute. And this thread is exactly what she was hoping for. Egotist and narcissist. She’s the last person I will be rooting for regardless of country. She’s nothing!
