UK club runner here. This sounds very troubling indeed. Just curious what makes you trust your 2nd coach more than your first? And would a 3rd coach be needed as the deciding factor if the first to disagree?

His claim is only that he wants you to do quad activation with bands before running. This would only fail a fact check if you could prove that he doesn't actually want you to do quad activation with bands before every run.

I dealt with bad coaches in hs and college - but I used what I learned on letsrun and dyestat to inform my training and work proper training around my coaches' program. The result was that I was mid pack in big invites and prob could have been an xc scorer for most d1 teams in the region by the time I graduated while my teammates were back of the pack chumps other than a couple who were so talented they'd have succeeded on any training.

Idk. 5 or 7 still seems like a small sample size. I’d think over 10 minimum. It probably makes sense to diversify the coaches from different geographical locations, socioeconomic status, etc.
Yes - Cerutty talked in depth about quad activation with bands, then Lydiard copied it. Next thing you know all of the East Africans climbed to prominence using the elite and secretive Western QA methods.
Has coach #1 explained what the purpose is? Sounds like it's part of dynamic warmup routine and makes no difference to running performance one way or the other.
I would do at least triple activations. You really want as many activations as possible. I would hire more bands too while you're at it, preferably death metal bands, to really ensure full activations before your morning shuffle.
