Wow, Valby has certainly gotten leaner since high school. Had some "baby fat" like a typical teenager and was still breaking state records. Baby fat gone and now breaking national records.

Weather at 8:00 PM in Eugene won't be optimal, but Parker is used to warm weather.

I felt that the OP was making a thinly veiled insinuation.

You’re right, hard work and better food choices COUPLED with maturity can bring changes in the physiological makeup of a person.

I read the OP differently, to mean if that gal can make the national charts training in that heat, while carrying extra weight, then she has to have some extraordinary talent.

And I don’t mean she is “fat”; just that she looks heavier than what one would expect for a national class teenage distance runner.

I think I speak for you, me, and everyone else who is NOT an immediate family member of Katelyn touhys when I say that the ONLY reason touhy went pro early is because she knows she can't valby on the track.

I immediately lost all respect for touhy when she backed out of last year's track 5k at the last minute. Valby ran and won with a leg injury. Even after xc last year, Laurie henes wouldn't mention touhy losing the individual xc title to valby. She just defended touhys effort in getting the team title, all while touhy was in the background limping and crying and faking another injury.

Valby is on another humanly level as I'm concerned. She's beautiful on every single way. Physically. Mentally. Artistically. Her running is perfectly aesthetic. She dominates touhy in terms of speed, endurance, perseverance, character, beauty, and most of all....TALENT.

I just see touhy as a Yankee who hides from competition. Valby is a southern vixen who looks competition dead in the eyes, even though she really has no competition.
