That's strange because she already has the Olympic standard. I guess she wants a lowkey meet with a relatively easy field to open her track season
Cranny already opened her season with a 2:02/9:45 pacing/4:09 workout weekend at Bryan Clay.
She was one of the Track Fest headliners until she quietly dropped from the 5k race yesterday with no explanation.
Now, Elise was just announced as one of the entrants in the Pre 1500.
Is she really entered in the LA Grand Prix 1500? She's listed on the entry page, but a list of all entrants for that Saturday's races has yet to be published.
Also, Not sure why she would do back-to-back 1500s. Racing Track Fest's 5k tomorrow night, then the Pre 1500 two weeks later, makes more sense. Especially, as someone noted above, Elise still needs the Oly 5k standard. Unless she's recently changed her mind and wants to only race the 1500 at the Trials.
Since last year when her racing was so erratic, to leaving BTC after 4 years then leaving Team Boss after only 4 months, to dropping out of Track Fest's 5k just a few days after her RW interview was published where she stated she would be chasing her 14:52 Oly Q, Elise has simply become too flaky and inconsistent to be taken for her word.
At this point, we don't know anything about her fitness, what she wants to do at the Trials, or even what races she'll be doing before then.
With her actions since early last year, that's the narrative she's created for herself.
I was pumped to learn this meet can be watched with a one off $6.99 purchase that I decided we must preview it - even if it's past midnight. So here is my preview of the meet with full entries. I'm most excited for Hassan, the men's steeple with Jager and Rooks and the women's 10,000 with D'Amato, Henes, etc.
Double Olympic champ Sifan Hassan will return to the track for the first time since last year's Worlds and the men's steeple is LOADED with US talent, but the most important race of the night is the women's 10,000 where a bun...

The real reason is Sifan is ducking Beatrice Chebet. Sifan should have been in Doha running in the Diamond League but she was too scared of getting beat by Chebet. Sifan didn’t want that smoke.

Yeah, reflecting on Hassan’s career, clearly she’s afraid of competition and racing. Well, she did triple at the last Olympics and last world championships, oh, and then she did run London on light preparation right after Ramadan….but in general she’s a scaredy cat…..you are spot on.
That was in the past when she was younger. This year is different. First she withdrew from the world cross country championships, and now this. I think she is running scared because she got beat so badly in Tokyo. She is a shell of her former self, and she has lost her confidence.

she's run a low key meet around this time nearly every yr since 2021 what are you talking about?? she also just finished marathon training 2 months ago - maybe we can cut her a break..
That’s another manifestation of her being scared: excuses. She always has an excuse handy for losing in championship races: just coming off a marathon, too tired from tripling, Ramadan, blah blah blah. The truth is she is too scared to commit to just one or two events because if she puts all her energy and focus into one thing and still loses on the big stage, then she’s utterly humiliated. It’s her worst nightmare.

I know you are trolling, but if I recall correctly Hassan medaled twice in Budapest, beating a fresh Chebet in the process, and then went on to run the 2nd fastest marathon ever in Chicago 7 weeks later. Not to mention she was on track to medal in the 10 too in Budapest. In which of those races was she humiliated? Hassan is getting older and she’s not ranked #1 in any event 1500-marathon, but she’s certainly a medal contender in all of them and a medal favorite in most. She’s won the BIGGEST races on the BIGGEST stages in the sport, and she’s lost them too, but she shows nothing to suggest fear.
