Odd that Berkeley, UCLA & UCSD are not on that list as each can boast top-5 departments in CS, Engineering, Applied Math. On the other hand, there is substantial dilution to the academic standards once the CC students get in (not all but a sizable fraction).
Is Florida a non woke alternative or is it woke also?
Letsrun never fails with the the fragile white guy, letting everyone know he is a weak racists loser...athletically and academically
Notice "white" being grouped in as a negative.
Leftists hate success, so hate Whites. Since they know that the point of politics is building power to violently use against their enemies, a major policy goal they are trying to achieve is the elimination of Whites.
Normal people would be wise to utilize their strategies in-kind or face extinction.

This was in the Forbes article that OP decided not to link for some reason:
(Military academies were not included in our analysis. California universities were excluded because they don’t consider test scores.)
The Ivy League is losing its standing as America’s producer of great talent. Here are the schools producing the hard-working high achievers that employers crave.
Why attack NC State? NC State is WAYYYY above many of the other top distance running schools in academic rankings - including NAU, Ok State, Colorado, New Mexico, BYU
There’s nothing wrong with NC State, and it is better than everything you listed there, except for probably CU. CU is a pretty good school, especially in certain disciplines.
Having said that, if my kid could get either academic and/or athletic and/or financial aid and wanted to stay in the Carolinas, I’d choose Duke, UNC, Wake Forest, Davidson, or even Furman before NC State.

NC State is a STEM school. The other ones you listed in North Carolina are not. From a purely academic standpoint (not athletes) if you are going into sciences or engineering, NC State is far superior to unc, duke, wake, and those others. The politics in the state of North Carolina, the NC Board of Governors (which controls the public universities) has blocked and prevented NC State from getting medical and law schools. The main reasons to go to unc, duke, or wake over NC State are their post-graduate medical and law schools.
But that's just academics. The major factor we are talking about here is the athletics side of things....for elite distance running athletes. And NC State's distance running (especially for women's program) is far superior to all other schools in North Carolina.

i don't know why you get downvotes, I agree! Outside of track/XC/distance running, NC State has very little name rec. You can't really compare NC State to the name rec/alumi connections of Duke, UNC, Wake Forest - esp with their med schools, graduate programs, etc.
The Ivy League is home to 8 prestigious schools based in the Northeast. So, is there a Southern Ivy League too? Which schools are considered "Southern Ivies"?

First 4 are pretty obvious. But i've lived most of my life in NC and never heard anyone say they'd rather their kid go to Furman than NC state. I know you said you were assuming financial aid but its 4x as expensive, isn't ranked highly in any particular fields, offers less than half the options for bachelor degrees. Plus as nice as Greenville is you're still in South Carolina.
I guess if you really value the small class sizes.

It's not your choice to make. At least it shouldn't be.

As I mentioned in my previous post, the politics in North Carolina (NC Board of Governors) has blocked NC State from getting medical, dental, and law schools -- to favor their "flagship" unc-chapel hill.
But how many people that go to college are going to go to medical, dental, and law school. Not that many. It's only a small percentage that get post-graduate degrees.
IMO, if you are just going for undergrad, NC State is the best choice in North Carolina. Of course it depends on the field/career you are interested in...but if it's in a STEM field (engineering, sciences, agriculture), then NC State is far superior to all other schools in North Carolina. And in recent years, NC State has had a higher average starting salary for it's graduates than unc-chapel hill.
UF faculty and students are not even close to Ivy League quality. I'd rank UF around 50th for national universities. Even many regional "directional" universities have better research faculty. This is the state of Florida, with over one million college students, most from Florida and the education system is just not very competitive with educated states. However, it gets most of the best of the Florida lot because most aspire to go there and it's very inexpensive because of Bright Futures scholarships (basically accessible to all of the in-state UF students) and tuition caps. UF does not draw nationally and its faculty can't wait to leave.

Duke and UNC have better STEM than NC State and Duke, UNC, Wake Forest, and Davidson all have significantly better SAT scores, including math. Duke beats NC State in the quantitative SAT score by 90 pts.
(2) every state school on that list except UTx and UF is over 1430 avg, 40 points higher.
(3) what do those 2 states have in common politically? hmmmm
(4) they then exclude several UC schools known for strong student bodies (eg berkley, UCLA, davis, UCSD) based on being test optional, which, well, another GOP talking point. dem governor.
(5) you don't usually factor the graduate and professional schools into an undergrad ranking as an undergrad may never step foot in one.
