This may have been the most impressive part of the meet. AF was about 3 seconds from the national record at altitude (I know conversions don't do much in the 800, but some nonetheless), and Herriman was only about 3 seconds behind. Keep in mind every one of Herriman's 4x8 boys ran the 1600m that morning (about 3 hours before), while all of the AF boys were fresh. Meaning Herriman is not far behind at all, and these two teams should be in very tight contention going into state and post season (if they choose to race it). Both definitely have a shot at the national record if all goes well.
