I mean she is in that 4th or 5th spot! She has to be a favorite now to make it.

…and AO’s chances also just went up
I'd say that Wayment is the closest thing to a "lock" to make this team. Gear's 9:12 is impressive, but it seems like she didn't race much indoors so hard to gauge her fitness. Markezich/Jennings are in a good spot. Marisa Howard or Gracie Hyde from Adams State potential threats as well. Could we see a 1500/5000 specialist debut at the steeple in the next month and shake things up?
I'm impressed by the vast improvement in depth for the U.S. women's steeple. This was an event where in the past there usually wouldn't be more than two or three under 9:30. Now there is a bunch under 9:20. Unfortunately, there has been a big drop at the top end with Frerichs and Coburn out and not in their old form anyway, so the medal chances are very low.
All respect to the OG:
Is that his daughter??
Before watching Payton Jordan I would agree with you but Wayment looked pretty bad the last few laps - two footing her waterpit jumps and looking very drained. Maybe she is in a deep part of her training or feeling a little ill - I have this feeling that there will be a surprise in this race - I am not sure who but I dont think it will go to chalk as they say. Wayment certainly the fave and Jennings for sure in with a shot - maybe Coburn really works with her as more of a coach, perhaps Val Constein? I think she is back training again as well so I think this race is pretty wide open for the 3 spots
Wayment is not a lock. Halladay-Lowry pulled away from her with 500 to go at Payton Jordan. Halladay-Lowry is my dark horse she's beat Wayment, Howard and Hyde her last 2 races.
It was probably just an off race. Wayment is either racing or pacing Morgan in the 5k this weekend at Oxy.
Wayment, Constien, Gear, Mitchell, Frerichs will also be at pre classic soon.
Imho Wayment is the closest thing to a lock for the team. But really it will be very competitive this year.
