Interesting article from Norway. The press wondered why Nordas, who was signed up only for the 5000, decided on the day of the race to pace the 5000 and race Filip Ingebigtsen in the 1500. Some speculated it was to stick it to the Ingebrigtsens. Narve denied that and said it was because he didn't think the 5000 would be fast enough to qualify for the Olympics so he wanted to pace his training partner in that and race the 1500.
Steve, you are a "doping bully." Many of us on this board agree with you that doping is a problem but we love the sport and have thus come to the conclusion that we have to work on the "benefit of the doubt" system. When they test positive, let'em have it! Until then, please don't just point fingers based on hearsay. Otherwise, there is no way for us to even enjoy track and field.
You presume to know who is doping (everyone who is good?) but without evidence, it just spoils the party for the rest of us. Who do you think is clean? Who do you think is dirty? The key verb in both questions is "think." We do not know and as such, we have to leave that to the system. If you think the system is broken, ruining our threads on Letsrun will not solve that. Send a letter to your congressman (or woman).
So, unless you can explain why you need to ruin so many threads with negativity, maybe you could just chill on the whole "everyone is a doper" thing.

The Norwegian press didn’t wonder if Nordås switch to the 1500 to stick it to Filip, it was only one lousy NRK journalist named Jan Petter Saltvedt who dreamed up this amateurish conspiracy.
I don’t know if this is the case in the US, but in Norway the worst journalists are relegated to the sports pages.
Filip should just pace Jakob in the olympic final. We could get a 3:26 race
A. You are assuming he could make the final, after not having results indicative of that since 2021 (3:32 and 7:34). You are also assuming he could lead the field through 1200m in 2:45 after 2 rounds. He couldn't.
B. You are assuming that this would somehow be more efficient and productive for Jakob, to the point that he would run faster than his 10 concerted efforts, assisted by multiple pacers and wavelights, the last three years. You're assuming he would be able to run faster than ever, despite 2 difficult rounds before. He couldn't. If he WAS able to do this it wouldn't be because his brother was a more effective pacer than he's ever had before, it would be because he was in 3:24 shape, and having a pacer at the Olympics helped him to a 3:26 after rounds and without wavelights. This seems unlikely he would reach 3:24 shape this year after an injury, and never reaching 3:26 under average conditions in diamond league races.
C. What good would it be forsaking Filip's performance completely, and Jakob taking a risk of blowing up on the last lap, in an Olympic final? For a 3:26 race? That's not a WR.
The Diamond League races are for WR attempts like that.

Actually, Vebjørn Rodal too. Not to the same extent, though. And I agree with you, by all means.

A. Yes, he would most likely never make the final if 3:38 is his best right now. If he somehow made it, I don’t think in any world he would get to 2:45, I think 1:52 at 800 would be more realistic.
B. How would it not be productive? Yes his all out efforts have been in paced races with wavelights but everyone peaks for the olympics. With a pacer he could unleash something we have not seen before.
C. A 3:26 would make it one of the best olympic wins ever, like Jakob said, he wants to win with as much as a margin as possible. He would probably not blow up on the last lap if he negative split hard
I think that Kerr is in pretty good shape right now. He ran the 2mile indoor world record less than 3 months ago and ran his fastest 800m in quite a long time (0.59 away from PB) less than 2 weeks ago.
I hope that Jakob doesn’t wet himself a few days before the confrontation and come up with some lame last minute excuse. That would be quite the beta move.
Filip would be ranked 14th in the NCAA at the moment. Right in front of the sophomore Nicolas Plant (not exactly an Olympic hopeful). I assume that Jakob is running laps around Filip in training right now. Otherwise…

What a patronizing language!
You don´t know much about Jakob if you think "he wets himself" over a competitor. He has stated several times that it is good that other runners also improve.
He probably knows that Kerr might be one level up this year which knowledge he will use to motivate himself.

Don't forget TV2's Mina Finstad Berg (who? exactly. Apparently a journalist and ex-gen sec. of SU (socialist party youth org).)
"Gjert should use common sense and resign from his role as coach"
