Not sure where exactly some of these guys are looking at getting the 5km standard but for the Aussies it seemed like a total waste even going to China. There's no more Men's 5000m in Diamond League is in Rome at the end of August. Ramsden got 13:26/DFL and DNS Rayner got 13:18 and 13:19 Stewy got 13:05 Morgan McDonald got 13:18
Oslo has a 5K, and Stockholm seems like it might have one too. Theo Quax was trying to get in it.
Based on talking to others it appears the feed was just as terrible in other countries. This leads me to conclude that the rights holders ONLY have access too the one feed the DL gives them. Why the hell do they not have the ability to see all the cameras at all times and then they can hire their own directors to control their broadcast. Having a singular director that the Diamond League hires is absolutely atrocious. They showed more of the 100h than the steeple and 5k combined. It was pitiful.
Damn. That was two hours of my life I will never get back.
the peacock coverage for the 5k was awful. they showed the race for what I think was 3 minutes total, basically the first lap and last two laps after the field was broken up. the rest: ads (so many) and field events. furthermore, the actual commentary of the race was literally zero. what happened to Kara? I think it was just Paul, Ato, and Trey
Something is up. It’s been a year since he didn’t look mediocre. Right now Lindsey and Bednarek would smoke him let alone Lyles, Coleman and the top of the event.
Or something WAS up? 400 guy moves down to 100 and is instantly a world beater
Perhaps, but to be fair, Usain Bolt and Latasha Colander Richardson both did the same move.

Could we see an Olympic steeple squad of Gear, Wayment, and Jennings?
The womens steeple team seems wide open to me. Coburn has struggled the last two seasons (and the DNF today), but we will see if she can rebound. Frerichs looked good running 15:01 indoors, but pulls out of her first steeple of the year. Wayment ran 14:49 indoors but could only put up a 9:31 in her opener, getting beat handedly by Lexy Halladay Lowry. Gear has a great kick but hasn’t had a performance similar to her surprise steeple win last year. Jennings runs a great 9:19 in season debut, but has lacked consistency in the past. Then you have Markezich, Hyde, and Thorner putting up sub 9:30 marks early season. Obviously it’s early on and lots will change, but this is the first time in a few years I feel there is no “lock” in the event for the Olympic team.
"22.50 was the slowest 200m winning time in a Diamond League last year. Daryll Neita (who didn't run in Xiamen) just ran 22.62 but still crushed everyone today."
22.96 won last week.

Amusan with another false start and another tantrum. Classic
Tantrum? Honestly, I view that as racist or sexist langauge or both in this case.
She didn't do anything I wouln't have done. You fly all the way over to China - you are the WR holder. You need to race and the fans want to race.
She asked to run under protest since it was 0.093 and they let her do it.
Her behavior was fine and I'm glad they let her race. In a DL, just let them run and if they acutally false started just don't give them the prize money. If they break the WR, I'd still give them the WR but not the first place result.

No clue, wish we saw more than 2 minutes of the race. Great debut for Jennings going sub 9:20 could factor in Eugene
The entire meet coverage was pathetic. I was mad when the meet was over, upset that I wasted 1.5 hours on Saturday night watching the replay. I try to give NBC the benefit of the doubt but this just didn't work. Of course they weren't even there. No update on Coburn after she disappeared. In the women's 5000, you wouldn't have known an esteemed runner like Gidey was even in the race. Just like last week, they've turned the men's PV into a circus act. I'm sure Mondo is getting paid well but this meet coverage was like "highlights". The selected superstars for Paris have been selected and they will be highlighted, win or lose, the rest of the competitors be damned.
Ridiculous because of these unbelievable times from nowhere young Africans to being up with the best in the world - all of a sudden.
catch them, their coach, agent, enablers and ban all of them from the sport. Better yet, put them in jail. There is little to no ramifications for Africans that dope.
Sponsors have been opting out of track and field due to the bad press from doping.
