Watching the race, I think she went out too slow as she made up a lot of ground in the final 300m of her leg, passing quite a few teams before the baton exchange.
Ramsden's split works out to a 4:23.0 mile. When Elle St. Pierre set the DMR record with the NB Boston team she split a 4:23.55 for 1600.
How about Bossong too? Never even heard of her before, all of a sudden she's run a 2:00.9 at Florida Relays and is ranked fourth in the NCAA.
She ran 1:08 500m back at their indoor conference meet, which is #2 in NCAA history. But she typically races between 400 and 800. But this is her breakout year for sure.
Ramsden is on fire... I wonder what her training looks like as she is surely trying to peak for the Olympics. Can she get the standard?
She would need to drop her mile PR by three seconds in the next two months, which seems unlikely.
She should get in on world ranking though. I think she needs one more race to get a Road to Paris ranking. Another win at NCAAs would probably secure her a spot.
Speaking of Ramsden's ranking, it looks like World Athletics screwed up her score. Her World Indoors final was worth 1232 points (1172 points for her 4:06.88 time plus 60 points for 10th place). But it doesn't show up in her regular world ranking. She should also have a score of 1255 for the prelims (1175 points for her 4:06.51 time plus 80 points for qualifying for the final), which should be enough races in the correct time frame to put her on the Road to Paris ranking list as well.

I thought that only top 8 at World Indoor qualified for points towards Olympic qualification?

No, it's a "GW" category competition so points go all the way down to 12th place in the final. A "Q" or "q" in the prelims is also worth 80 points. Lucia Stafford's 11th place finish shows up in her ranking, along with 50 placing points.

Problem is that New Zealand has a stranger selection policy than Australia and that is saying something. Then again her Dad definitely has political sway so who knows. Best thing she can do is just have a crack at the standard but even then it’s in the hands of the NZOC with how many spots Athletics gets ( 12-15 ) and who the throws biased selectors pick.
