The list of United States high-school national records in track and field is separated by indoor and outdoor and boys and girls who have set a national record in their respective events. While these records have been compiled...
So Tuohy’s record is gone? I don’t have the numbers in front of me.
Yes.
Katelyn's 4:33.87 -- from her HS sophomore year five years ago -- has finally been laid to rest.
astro will probably enter the thread to confirm Tuohy was just a sophomore, and didn’t have super-shoes and pacers, and that it was probably in some very low-level high-school meet.
I’m glad Sadie did it as a Junior, because, with an August birthday, she is older for her grade.
High school age is over rated. I've seen 13 year old that are 6'3 grown men already, and 17 year old boys who have barely begun puberty. The biological disparity far exceeds the +/- months that people like to brag/complain about.
I live 20 miles from stadium, and there is less wind today than normal.
I also have been checking AccuWeather all day about every hour for Walnut, Ca. The highest reading I have seen is 5MPH, with gusts of 9MPH. Most people would consider that effectively no wind. It was at 5/7 about the time of that race.

And for Example Alan Webb was older in High School than German Fernandez was as a College Freshman, The Junior Record is more fair than the High School Record, but the Overall Record is THEE IMPORTANT ONE, Sadie Englehardt though is a Great Young Talent, Will She Pan out and be as good or better than Faith Kipyegon, Gudaf Tsegay, Sifan Hassan ETC. I hope so, but the odds are against her nevertheless she is an exciting young Talent/Prospect that is worth Watching, Good luck to her.
She certainly was gunning for the absolute HSR with her opening quarter of 65.90! Gutsy runner, she now sits #3 all time behind only Addy Wiley's 4:27.71 converted 1600m and Mary Cain's indoor 4:28.21. And she's a HS Junior.

I was there. Yes, the wind was probably around 5 to 7 mph when Sadie ran. So some wind, but not too bad.
It was definitely a lot windier than that a few hours earlier. There is a bit of a wind tunnel effect where the stadium is located that wouldn't be picked up by a wind reading elsewhere in Walnut. Good thing that it mostly died down by the time that Sadie raced.

Everybody these days is a happy adjuster, making every number anything they want it to be. The best and most valid criteria is raw age. Examples dwarf the ever-popular outliers.
I think the 3000m. Records will not hold with all the tecnological changes, especially after 5 years. Alhough the key for why Tuohy broke the phenom "curse" was that she was comparatively undertrained. It is a tricky thing to navigate.
