Obviously most of the top American men did not run Boston due to the Olympic Trials only a couple months ago, which allowed some different runners to shine. CJ Alberton turned around for another impressive result, but I'm struck by Ryan Eiler. Had a PB on 2:17:16 going into today and ran a 2:14:22 for 3rd American and 15th overall. His Olympic Trials profile says he only ran a couple years in high school and got back into running at 31 (he is 38 now). Apparently a Boston local and does shoe reviews for RoadTrailRun, which is where you might have seen his name before. Didn't run the Trials but showed up today for what has to be the race of his life. Impressive result that I wanted to highlight.
