That paragraph in the DyeStat article has now been updated to suggest the ever-so slightest glimmer of hope. Instead of saying the muscle tear has "forced" her to end her high school track career, it now says it has "likely" ended it, and that she is shifting her attention to her college career because she's taking a "long-range view."

Hardly a significant difference, but evidently MBP felt strongly enough to request that even such a minor change be made.

I feel bad for her, and any athlete with an injury setback. The changing reaction to her over the past several years has been interesting.

I have. For years, many posters on this board have bashed Richardson, Fraser-Price, Lyles (male, I know.), etc. for varied reasons while fawning over Brahe-Pederson, Steiner, and various Dutch girls. They will publicly root against Sydney McLaughlin for the flimsiest of reasons while praising Femke Bol as a hard working and worthy champion. Noah Lyles does a little victory dance - "Attention seeking, classless, and vain!". Bol shimmies a little for the camera - "How adorable! Does she have a boyfriend? Can I slide into her DMs?". They pilloried Richardson when she got 30 days for smoking weed while screaming "INJUSTICE!!!" about Houlihan getting popped for a real PED.

The World Famous Message Board and the average American prefer white champions. I don't think that is racist, but it confirms that people prefer their heroes to look like them and they will perform all kinds of mental gymnastics to validate their most base feelings.

Oh, come on. Houlihan has been blasted by all but a handful of people on this board. Lance Armstrong gets the same treatment. Molly Seidel wins a bronze at the Olympics and is somehow Public Enemy #1 on this board. Same with Alexi Pappas. Alli Ostrander has made two US teams and gets torn up here. How about World Championship medalist Kara Goucher?

Sydney gets blasted for being religious which is a HUGE no-no on these boards. How dare she thank God for her great performances! Same reason BYU gets blasted - a lot of people on this board hate anyone religious.

As for being showy, Caitlyn Clark is an arrogant (albeit great) player who constantly gets blasted here for being so "attention seeking."

Lets face it, good looking runners like Bol and Hodgkinson are going to get positive attention even if they were slow. The name Alica Schmidt sound familiar?

You are desperately trying to see what you want to see. Take the blinders off.

Houlihan gets absolutely thrashed around here, hardly anyone is on her side. The poster above me gave plenty of examples of white athletes who get hated on for various reasons. I'll add Ryan Hall as someone who got ripped for being religious.

It is not a black/white thing. We can find a reason to hate any athlete on this website:

Yeah, everyone hated Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods, right? They have been beloved despite serious shortcomings from both of them. Richardson is a palpably dislikable person to many. Some people don't like the showboating of Lyles (I don't agree with the later, but I do the former). It is a personality thing, not a skin thing.

Give it a rest. Stop looking at race as the root of all thinking. If that's where your mind goes, YOU are the one who is racist.
