Nick Foles and Drew Brees both went there. There are nearly 100,000 public high schools in the US, and only 58 Super Bowls. Therefore this is extremely statistically unlikely that two Super Bowl winning quarterbacks could have gone to the same high school. Just what the hell is going on down there in Texas? Discuss.
it's where the rich public school kids from austin go. they played a pro set before most HS programs did, and the kids have the money to be picky where they go for college, can hold out for out of state programs themselves running pro-style. so brees went to purdue, and foles michigan/zona.
from a soccer player perspective, you missed a biggie, tucker the all time great kicker also went there same time as foles.
I believe the best kicker of all time, Justin Tucker, went there as well. They have had a number of QBs who were the best recruits in the nation. Maybe a dozen NFL players.
Westlake, TX is not a nice town for non-White people. Restaurant managers lie to non-White people, say a restaurant is booked full when it is not. Cops there harass non-White people. Yes, the Mexican or Mexican-American cops do it do.
Schweizer is an Olympian and American record holder. Caitlyn Clark is the best basketball player in history. Heidesch is one of very few boys who have gone sub 4 in the mile. All went to the same high school.
“Westlake’s motto is ‘we are rich, we are white, we are Westlake.....'”
“I’ve been called the n-word every other day, or I have heard the n-word every other day, from 8th grade onwards...”
kid dressed up as an ICE agent for halloween and chased hispanic students around campus.
"athletes of color told KXAN they hear derogatory and insensitive racial slurs being casually used in everyday conversation...."
"Zane Minors, an incoming senior at WHS [who went to yale to play football], is a key part of the Chaps offense. He’s also one of a handful of Black athletes on the roster. He said he feels in an awkward position; he often has to hold his tongue when he hears inappropriate or insensitive comments from his teammates....Minors said the n-word has been normalized at his school...."
"During the University Interscholastic League 6A state marching contest, the alumni say they were asked to twirl colorful Confederate flags and perform an old Southern song, which they say was chosen by the school, with lyrics glorifying picking cotton...."
"On the morning of Oct. 13, 1989, an effigy was found hanging by a noose from a tree on campus. The effigy was dressed in a football jersey that read "fish." That same day, Westlake High School was set to play the Homecoming football game against Lyndon B. Johnson High School [east austin, the black part of town], who had a Black quarterback named "Fish"......[same day] the words "Go Home, N——" were found painted on the bleachers for the visiting team....University Interscholastic League put Westlake High School on probation for the 1990-91 school year. The school was also required to institute a plan to improve diversity, inclusion, and sensitivity."
Football is like a religion in Texas, especially at the high school level. It would be more honest, therefore, to limit your stats to the 3240 high schools in Texas. I can't find exact stats on this, but I did find something to back up this claim: Super Bowl LVII featured two starting quarterbacks from Texas: Mahomes (Chiefs) vs. Foles (Eagles).

I can't find exact stats on this, but I did find something to back up this claim: Super Bowl LVII featured two starting quarterbacks from Texas: Mahomes (Chiefs) vs. Folks (Eagles). (Edit: you mentioned both in your post, so maybe this isn't the best example. Curious to know how many losing Superbowl starters are from Texas, and would take an even money bet that there are more than these two.)
Super Bowl LIII: In this matchup, California signal callers Tom Brady (New England Patriots) and Jared Goff (Los Angeles Rams) both represented their home state. Brady secured the victory for the Patriots.
Super Bowl XIX: Joe Montana, hailing from Pennsylvania, led the San Francisco 49ers to a decisive win against Dan Marino and the Miami Dolphins.
Super Bowl XXV: Jeff Hostetler, another Pennsylvania native, guided the New York Giants to a narrow victory over Jim Kelly and the Buffalo Bills.
Super Bowl LVII: Now, we have Patrick Mahomes (graduated from Whitehouse, Texas) and Jalen Hurts (graduated from Channelview, Texas) representing the Lone Star State. This will be the sixth and seventh time a quarterback from Texas starts in the Super Bowl. Mahomes, with multiple starts, is the only Texan to achieve this feat1.
In total, 22 different states have produced quarterbacks who have started in the Super Bowl. California leads the way with 28 appearances, thanks in part to legends like Tom Brady and John Elway. Pennsylvania follows with 15 appearances, including stars like Joe Montana and Jim KellyLouisiana and Ohio also have notable contributions to Super Bowl quarterback history12.
but then the kids in my HS class who i remember using the n-word correlate strongly to adult age trump voters who would deny they are racists.
If Shaq had gone to your high school, I really doubt they would have called him the n-word.
Maybe they see you and think you are a snowflake?
first, some dude pretends westlake is pristine and sweetheart and i get "snowflake" for informing him the history (and it sounds like continued undercurrent) of where he moved. so like we have to let inaccurate propaganda go up or get called snowflakes for correcting it. whatever. no wonder you folks can't handle black history without seeing it as political and an effort to make you feel bad.
second, back those many decades ago i was an apolitical jock. snowflake my tookus. you are conflating decades of movement of my life.
third, those were "more innocent" times. those many decades ago people kept further away from politics and religion and didn't thrill off of gigging the liberal. no, they were not throwing around slurs to affect me. they were throwing around slurs because a lot of southern kids were bigots decades ago. some of them are still my FB friends because we played sports together years. and many of them threw around n word or anti hispanic slurs easily.
this is why we need black history and hispanic history in schools, is people implying southern conservatives helped minorities get the vote, or pretending the south was full of dear sweet innocent folks who just used slurs to gig liberals and northerners. right. sure. whatever.
