Nuttycombe is slated for Friday September 27th. PreNats is Saturday October 19th. Which one will most of the top programs run? Nuttycombe in mid October was always good rhythm wise with conference and regionals. what do you think?

I think most of the top teams would do both. Most teams would do a a mid September meet at the nationals course and Nutty in October. Last year it was Virginia Invite Sept 23 and Nutty Oct 13 (same weekend as prenats). Moving Nuttycombe forward in the schedule lets teams go to both Nutty and prenats.
So you think most of the top teams will be Wisconsin 3 times this fall?
That’s exactly what a lot of teams did in 2018, the last time nationals were in Wisconsin.
Why they go 3x? The top teams ALREADY know the course. Why would they need to run both prenats and nutty?
because those are the two most competitive meets. The teams competing for a national title want to race their competition before nationals.
Most teams line up 5 to 7 times in a season, including conference championships, regionals and nationals. As fantastic as the Zimmer course is, there are plenty of other great courses for these athletes to race on.
Racing 3X times in 7 weeks on the same course is not ideal. Hopefully, most of the top teams run there only once before nationals.
How is racing 3x on the most important 2024 xc course … not ideal?
Considering the historical context and the importance of rhythm, I would lean toward PreNats. It provides a better alignment with the conference and regional meets, allowing teams to hit their peak performance at the right time.
The Joe Piane/Paul Short and Dellinger often serve as "rustbusters" to open the season. Most teams see Wisconsin almost every year and not sure why 2 practice runs would be needed this year.
I agree. Why would teams travel somewhere else to run a different course on one of those weeks? It only makes sense if travel is easier like if it is a 4 hour drive to a meet rather than flying to Wisconsin. I think that many top teams will run both due to runners having injuries or taking certain weeks off. I imagine that the top teams will have a few top runners do both meets.
Make sure you run Paul Short too. Its very important to travel far for every meet. Running meets without flying to them is for the jv.
