Yawn. More old garbage peddled by an unoriginal man with a boring new handle.
The worst professor (imo) I ever had at Cornell was from McKinsey. For the record I had a lot of amazingly good professors though.

Being a bad professor doesn't mean he was a bad consultant. Maybe that's why he was a professor, because he couldn't cut it in business world.
Hi, Jamin!
From my own experience you’ll find a lot of these nothing-but-hot-air types, Also talking with people in the consulting business (not Mckinsey, but similar firm) admitting they do not know anything, or are mostly spitballing something along the way. Whenever I hear about meetings with these types it’s almost always conclusions that was already known
Peter Thiel is not a chess player, he's a venture capitalist. He played chess competitively as a child, not since. That would be like calling Warren Buffett a "billionaire baseball player" because he played teeball.
Their proactive recruitment of highly anxious/indebted/vulnerable Ivy League/Élite Liberal Arts students at the age of 20/21/22 is surrreal. Many rounds of interviews, huge summer internship salaries. Cultlike prestige especially in D.C. establishment, considered a gateway to fat checks/houses in the Hamptons in Private Equity.
Also helped Purdue Pharma CREATE the opiate crisis. Because THEY HAVE NO VALUES.
Like certain shoe companies that actively recruit alums into their ranks to optimize DTC b.s..
He's not wrong. They're leveraging their reputation for as long as that works, and after they'll find themselves among the Accentures and Deloittes of our world with corresponding rates.

Sage advice from a young adult. Listen up !
"Consulting has elements of a marathon and a sprint: a long-term perspective combined with bursts of speed and creativity."
"Running is one of my passions. I ran my first marathon in 2015 after completing a few half marathons. I love running long distances as well as shorter sprints in interval training. This is similar to my working life at McKinsey. I am committed to delivering long-term impact for my clients and keeping focused on my own long-term development, but I also enjoy short bursts of intensity that keep me energized."
The OP forgot to link to the article where the quote came from. Here it is:
Rich coming from Peter Thiel, to state the obvious.
It’s an opinion I share for all forms of Consultancy, not just Mckinsey.
I don’t mean that to disparage the individuals. They’re usually bright and switched on (as opposed to educated) as there’s an element of sales in what they do.
But the advice is almost always painfully obvious. The really important detail tends to evade consultants (not a surprise, it evades most employees too). For most, the benefit of a consultancy is a facade to implement unpleasant change.
consultants are useless. get a real job people that helps society and/or the planet
Hiring McKinsey or any of the other big consulting firms is either a fear-based decision by a middle manager who is fine with a mediocre outcome, as long as they don't end up on the chopping block – "no one ever got fired for hiring McKinsey"...
OR, it's a fear-based decision by the C-Suite who knows that they'll be rewarded for an unpleasant re-org, layoffs, etc. but want someone to get their hands dirty for them.
Oh I see you deleted my completely valid question. You are such a loser jamin

Not a racket but less value than it used to be. Applicants are attracted to those jobs because of power and Business Schools have learned how to teach Finance and put it to use towards supporting a new strategy. Incompetents 'happen' in other places.
Long and informative…though the 3.5 minutes starting at the 23:00 mark is cringey & laughable if you’re short on time. They even mention Rojo’s Cornell.
