Hello all,
Quick Summary - Former 1:53/49.9(r) guy who at that time could only manage about 4:06-4:09 in the 1500m and 15:50 in the 5k, despite having some experience running 60-75mpw and doing plenty of tempos.
About 8 years have passed since then. I've done some various training and stay consistent, but mostly 40-55mpw with a few higher weeks very occasionally.
What are some basics you think a more fast twitch athlete should focus on if they have about 6 months to train for a marathon? Same basic principles or would you structure things differently?
As of now, my main goals are to increase mileage until I'm pretty comfortable around 75mpw while also gradually building the long run to ~20 miles. Otherwise i'll likely just do a bunch of threshold and hill workouts early, and transistion to some longer tempos and hard long runs as I get more specific close to the race.
