What kind of training sessions should I be doing for a fast 1500 this summer?
Ran 4:04 at 17 y.o last season and looking to make a massive jump this year. Training has been XC/5K road specific since around September. I have 3 sessions a week, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday/Sunday with other runs and strength in between, but can't nail down what I should be doing each week. Knowing that the 1500 is more aerobic than the 800, should some of my sessions be more threshold/tempo based?
This is how I picture it:
Monday: 50/60 mins bike
Tuesday: Session - 1500 race specific
Wednesday: 50/60 mins easy run + Gym PM
Thursday: Session - (Unsure what I should be doing here)
Friday: Rest
Saturday: Longer run (10 miles or 80 mins) + Gym PM
Sunday: Session - Threshold/Tempo focused
