The irony in this is that Ritz himself was a grinder who seemed to stagnate until he found himself in a more speed-oriented program at NOP. I do hope he continues to see success with his current athletes, and I hope Carmela finds her stride as well, so to speak – her NCAA race was gutsy, and I would wager she has room for improvement if she can stay healthy.
She ran 15:3X at Boston so I think she can get back to her old form with some more time. She’s had a rough time with injuries but probably wasn’t going to have enough time in her peak years to hit Alicia Monson type status with OAC.
